to me, there are a few reasons why... there are a lot of room for improvements. I don't think politicians are the ones to take the complete blame. it might not be of this scope but this is not the first time something like this happens. what I don't understand is that why academics don't wake up.

I'm afraid things first have to get much much worse, economically mainly, and hope no real disaster happens in the meantime. Then the question becomes how to ensure they are rightly blamed for the mess they made.

Been struggling with that too. Many beliefs are born out of their/our info ecosystems and changing their mind requires them to acknowledge (internally) that they were misled/"fooled", which is hard for people to accept. Plus when it's me versus all other info channels, how to choose to trust me?

Not saying it's hopeless, but it is definitely hard. And potentially requires more than me (such as other news/people spread over time, which I can try to provide exposure to). And i think pure lived experience (such as a recession) without an accompanying narrative also not enough.

Indeed and I think it's not symmetric: it's easier to pull someone into modern rightwing BS attractors, than it is to bring them back. IMO said BS also has an intrinsic advantage when traveling through social networks (Also answering your comment on another thread @neurograce.bsky.social)
