Looking thru the attached doc, they filed their intent to respond no later than 10 am Jan 9, but at 12:xx today (Jan 8) the court said they had to respond by 5 pm today. They thought they had 24 hours.

I don’t understand their interest here. If they weren’t obviously going to be pardoned, why would they try to stop the release of the Smith report rather than arguing after release that it made it impossible for them to get a fair trial?
