The cancer-stricken 74 year old congressman Democrats just picked for a leadership position explains why he was the right choice: "I've never had my chance to be a ranking member or a chairman of a full committee."

"My turn."
Are we toddlers standing in line on the playground waiting to go down the slide, or are we fighting to save what's left of our country by whatever means necessary for the future?
Does he want to serve & lead or is he just another entitled old white man who wants what's "owed" to him?!?
This reminds me of the Hillary run for president with many echoing "it's her turn!" Then they called foul on anyone speaking up against that notion or her presidential candidacy at all. The democrats have failed us through the past two decades.
No point in rehashing this landslide to nightmare town. But something that sticks in my craw is Clinton refusing to back Medicare for All. One thing. She could have won easily with that one thing. Her corporate donors could have everything else on a silver platter.
I love that that's our overall plan for so many political problems right now. Like across the board, "This sucks but hey, how much longer could they live?
It was simply his turn. This reinforces my assumption that establishment democrats are a club, and the objective of that club is to make sure that the "right kind of people" are in that club.
He has the bona fides & hasn't had his turn to run a committee? Forget that he's 74 and sick with cancer.
Why are people abandoning established political parties🤔
This is why the Democrats and Harris lost the election, right fucking here. AOC should’ve had this position because she needs to be part of the new face of the Democratic Party. Sorry, Gerry, and sorry for your cancer, and you never got to be a big boy, but get the fuck out of the way of the future.
I’m sorry, being a 74 year old fucker with cancer and one foot in the grave, who never had a turn at being a ranking member, doesn’t automatically make you the best person for the job, especially when fascists are about to take over! We need strong Dems! I’m so sick of this gerontocracy bullshit! 🤬
I don't mean to be ageist but it's probably not a good sign when your party leadership looks like they could also star in a Tales From the Cryptkeeper reboot
For the record I think elderly people have valuable wisdom and insight and should still have advisor roles in government, they just shouldn't be in roles where they're making major decisions once their faculties are in decline
Mic drop moment. Now all you AOC supporters will just have to pipe down. The guy looks and sounds like he is ready to serve, at least 24 hours, assuming he is getting proper care.

What are those pay bumps and perks.
Nothing to see here, peasants.
Move along.

When do I start?
I'm curious - why I don't see
more clips from MSNBC?
Maybe you were not the best candidate for leadership, so you weren’t picked.
And how did he never have a chance? How long has he been a congressman?
So in the end - he’s getting the job out of pity? Peter Principle at work.
The sooner we get over this fake “fairness”, the better. AOC would have been the better candidate.
Am I next in line now?
