In theory, this is a great idea. In practice, it won’t work against federal executive officers or employees today.
It’s true that courts have the power to appoint private attorneys as prosecutors of criminal contempts.

I just heard @marcelias.bsky.social say that these judges are authorized to HIRE outside prosecutors. If the DOJ refuses, judges have options.

Did you happen to see how light off a lift that was for this administration to circumnavigate?
There is a good chance we spend the next 30 years just standing around saying you can't do that, it's unconstitutional!
* Absolutely NO money in politics (no lobbying, no election donations, no PACs)
* Corporations ARE NOT people.
* Sign onto the ICC and respect other nations' soverignty.
* Create a mechanism for secession
* Axe the senate
* Bureaucratic positions are elected.
After reading this we are at the point where lines have to be drawn and sides chosen. Protest won’t matter as they will crack down on them. If there is a better answer please say so
Who of those oath-takers will be our oath-keepers?
need a few good people to look inward and
make a choice. When I say people, that would be “Republicans”! They are there, as worrified as
we are over this shit. We need to identify House Reps that are in swing districts and go after them to flip! This can’t wait until midterms!
no one will let them in federal buildings or mar a lardo
serious stuff being the obvious suggestion that the 2nd amendment militias out there need to prove to the People that they are more than the defacto armed wing of the Republican Party.
Right now that’s the whole point.
Tell us more how this would work, please.
Whatever measure they took to prevent party politics didn't work so well. It's allowed this minority rule, and created massive distrust and disengagement of the people.
He's above the law, and embodies pure id. His disciples delight in breaking the law and hurting enemies. Courts can't save us; he'll just pardon them.
We're fucked.
Succinct.
Consolidation of pres power, deporting minorities, military vs civilians, exec orders…
Project 2025 was well known, but given the US democracy history, people didn’t believe it yet here we are

I hope that something good happens, but it's not in evidence yet.
That was a quaint time.
That aside I couldn't agree more. Alarm bells should be going off, the DNC should be tireless.
Being afraid to do the paperwork is a lame excuse.
1. Bust the perpetrators
2. Make everyone put it in writing and swear it before the Courts.
We are in transition to 1) an authoritarian/fascist regime, elections canceled, Congress dismissed, or 2) civil unrest, martial law, dissolution of the union.
Thank you, George, for confirming my nightmare scenarios.
I hope your more optimistic view prevails.
America was born as a democracy. Now he’s changing it to authoritarianism.
Trump wants Trans Americans. Ewww.
Assuming people can get off their screens and whatnot.
I don't follow naysayers for a reason.
“If you can keep it,” indeed. A surprise we managed this long.

Because everything in the end has to run through DOJ, which Felon 47 effectively controls, and legal challenges will be appealed ad nauseum until they reach SCOTUS, which he also controls...
Massive protests?
No, that will be pretext for emergency powers, National Guard and deploying the military against the people.
General Strike?
Now we are talking. A general strike affecting *everything* is something no EO or amount of control of...
But I am repulsed by tyrants and fascists.
Seceeding from the union is rash and should not be considered until all other options are exhausted. Withholding funds is viable, if up for the protracted legal battle.
The time to do so here in EU and Sweden is coming, we're a few years behind you.
I am watching, listening and taking notes. I hope others are as well.
A general strike has the benefit that they can not fight it. They don't have the troops to escort everyone to work. Or crack down on it everywhere.
It stresses the whole MAGA thing from top to bottom, and when the weakest link gives way...
See, people power can be used in many ways. Paralyzing the one thing that generates income that he and his cronies want their grubby fingers on - that provides..
It won't be quick, it won't be easy, it won't be without pain. But it *will* give results.
Imagine if X, Meta, Google, Tesla, SpaceX dropped 50% or more in a market that dropped 20%.
Wishful thinking, my bad.
Everyone on this thread 🧵 now lives in a banana 🍌 republic.
tracks!
NATIONAL STRIKE
Shut everything down.
Musk's appearance in the Oval Office was the moment Trump 2.0 jumped the shark.
or re: pardons, seems like many or these actions also would or could violate state laws
We are approaching a place where a lawful solution may not be possible. How close we are is debatable.
That, or a civil war.
The government is lost to a minority of thieves.
Thieves only understand one thing: pain and death.
Possible to use Courts Martial to clean up the sworn office holders?

I am not a lawyer, so just asking.
Obviously, it would have to be the U.S. Marshals Service or the F.B.I.
But oops, they’re part of the Department of Justice, controlled by … First Felon Donald J. Trump.

“3 EQUAL branches of gov” 🤷♂️
FBI must ... , not the president. but the constitution. So, they must follow what the court order says.
That being said... someone makes a case for law enforcement to carry out the job...
Like having a country that's not in the hands of people hell bent on ripping it to shreds.
Turns out it’d have to be the U.S. Bureau of Prisons. But wait—that’s also part of DOJ, again controlled by the same adjudicated digital rapist in the White House.
(3/5)
I’ll give you one guess.
Hint: It’s a guy who has already pardoned hundreds of people who committed crimes on his behalf.
(4/5)
Can he pardon that too?
Presidential immunity + absolute pardon power empowers private henchmen to carry out illegal orders.
The only good resolution here is if the SCOTUS takes back this catastrophic decision given their failure to understand the consequences.
(5/5)
How does that work for you?
I understand that this would necessarily precipitate civil war.
He doesn't give a FUCK about what any judge has to say. They already have Vance out there giving lip service that they don't need to cooperate.
Let's hope we do not need to find out who is right.
Right? 😬
The Morning Brief with Marc & George
You’re welcome.
He knows he will never now go to prison, or be held liable for his crimes due to the 5 Catholic supremacists and 1 Handmaid cult member on the Supreme court
think unconventionally and outside the box.
take it all the way to the SC, let them decide
It really is sadly, very well executed using the system against itself.
🙏
If he decides not to follow a law, there is no recourse
His #doj also won’t prosecute any of his minions for disobeying a court order
The entire admin is essentially above the law
#Americans need to start understanding this
$5M/mice...
Come on, catch up expert...
Conway is why we're in this mess. Why? Well maybe ut means...
It MEANS PRISON.
this is the part that concerns me the most .
The only thing that can compel Trump to abide by legal rulings is public pressure. That's why Nixon finally caved. Let's hope it works with Trump.
I know I'm misinterpreting that statement...but I think we're all thinking the same thing because we can feel where we're headed.
& Judge can sentence folks to “alternate” punishment outside BOP authority, again a common thing, but it can be essentially a cage.
It’s pretty easy to map out.
J.F.Christ!
If the executive is going to ignore the courts, then they can stop the charade that there is still a republic. Walk out, don’t give the despot a fig leaf.

Is that enforcement under the executive offices control?
I fear The USA is going the way of Israel - create an outside enemy so citizens forget they were demonstrating against THEIR criminal leader.
Crim. P. 42 would very likely succeed:
https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/22pdf/22-274_2c8f.pdf
or somehow it prevails and will need promptly to be completely rewritten.
And most ominously for us all:
the answer to HOW we get to the “rewritten” reality, is very dark indeed.
But wait…then he can activate the Insurrection Act and “shoot them in the legs”.
But there is a finite number of legs in this country to shoot before before he loses the public
I just want to make certain I'm not misinterpreting.
Isn't that a big problem for two very rich men? Can't a federal judge just freeze their assets?
Could the court rent a room at a Motel 6 and lock them in the room or use a holding cell in the basement ?
Legit questions, I have no legal background
I guess state authorities are the only option?
Any chance you could offer some resolutions, alternatives, something, anything that doesn’t make me feel hopeless and like crap?
There are cells in the back of the courthouse, and Elon is not that big.

Of course, an incident like "State of California arrests Trump" would be a brand new level of constitutional crisis, particularly if they ignored federal orders to release him.
What use is it being a superpower if you can't turn your national constitutional crisis into a *global* geopolitical crisis?
Wait. 🤔
But some states’ constitutions — about half of them — allow recalls of governors.
