Favorite UB40 Song, "Legalize It"
Legalize it, yeah, yeah,
Don't criticize it
Legalize it, yeah, yeah,
And I will advertise it
Some of them call it tambi
Some of them call it deh weed
Some call it marijuana
Some of them call it ganja...
Saw them twice, once was when I was 21, and when I was 59.
I was in college when that came out...my marching band parties played it so much I got sick of it....😏🖖I didn't even like wine... I'm more of a piña colada gal.😏🖖
Heh, everytime I hear that song, I'm reminded of going to events at friends' places with parents that liked to party, and they'd usually play that late in the night when the party had transitioned to the "chill around the fire/outdoor table" stage.
Did I lead you to think I was upset…no quite the opposite…big Neil Diamond fan, excited to see him named in other posts!!! Exclamation point= to show strong feelings/emotions or emphasis. Apologies if you were lead astray…😉
That song! My husband had a whinny employee. Young gorgeous redhead- who decided he was her BEST friend. Complicated our marriage - but hey she was privileged. I taught our kids that song. They sang it every time they saw her- daily. Drove home the point. She moved on. We are still married.
It came out in 1983 but didn’t become a hit in the US until 1988. I’d say including anyone born in that time as around 40 is fair. But that aside, I see what you did there and I snort chuckled 🤭
I was introduced to both Ub40's 'Red, Red, Wine' and Night Train Express, a cheap Cali wine, during the a road trip with my gutter punk roomie back in the late '80s.
IbOlder.
He died one month before he was supposed to perform in the benefit concert my brother's best friend was organizing for the Ethiopian Jewish people. I was going to beg my bro to bring his 16yr old sis. I knew my parents wouldn't let me go otherwise.

Stay close to me!
Don't let me alone!
I was born in 1970 when this song was popular, yet people seem to think that Trans people are a new idea and due to wokeness 🤣🤣🤣
Written by Neil Diamond in 1967.
(Much better by UB40 IMHO).
( I'm 77 in July)
Did like the UB40 cover though in my late 20's.

And yes, my daughter is around 40!
On the bright side, the original Neil Diamond version (1967) was before I was born… 😅

Same with Mountain’s Reggae toned version of Peter Frampton’s original Baby, I Love Your Way.
Hell, I’m making a playlist right now with those at the top.
My brain couldn’t allow this transgression to go unnoticed.
Red, Red Wine is one of my favorites though.
😊
I’m 48 this year
