he is seeing a crow for the first time. he did not know birds got this big. it is concerning. yesterday, birds were the size of kittens. now they are enormous. cats: you are losing this arms race.

Crows are Neptune's favourite birds! And also seagulls! he gets *very* excited when he sees the big birds. I dunno if he's seen an eagle yet though πΉ (they do fly around my neighbourhood sometimes)
It is well know that hunger distorts one's perspective. Lacking adequate glucose the brain can conjure fantastical thoughts like gigantic feathered beasts, oceans of hummus, and evidence-based public policy. Sandal must sate his appetite
We have wild turkeys that come to visit. When my diminutive Russian Blue saw them from the safety of inside for the first time, he was SHOOKETH. The orange cat was fully prepared to throw down.
i don't think i've ever posted them because it's really hard to get him on video. he can't possibly know what a camera is but he gets very self-conscious when he sees the phone pointed at him
The late great Mrs Cat tried to catch a magpie but when she jumped to catch it and missed, she realised how big it was and decided never to do it again.
Scooter (semi feral) is friends with crows and deer. He's made peace with them. But he saw a Cooper's Hawk a while ago and froze! Then today he saw a turkey vulture (while inside) swoop down where the crows fed and
hid! They have a six foot wing span! ππ
My dog broadly shows no interest in birds EXCEPT crows, which are the same size and colour as him. Still unclear whether he wants to befriend them or other but he never has the pace for us to find out. He has the good sense to avoid cats.
She was in the house when turkeys walked by but she was avoiding looking out the window that week because it seemed too cold outside to pay attention to it.
My parents' long-gone Dog, a very large and titanically stupid Golden Retriever/collie mix, made a similar face the first time he saw a horse. He was unaccustomed to not being the largest four-legged creature in his field of vision.
Took one of my cats to visit my bf in Oxford once, and was taking her for a walk on a lead over a bridge, under which were lots of swans.
The Giant Floating Pigeons were a whole other level of ROUSness to her.
I ended up looking like I was walking a tree.
well if the gubbmint goink to abdicat resbonsibilidy for nashunal birb securidy cats goink to haff to taek madders into own paws. Provishuns of DewClaw Amendmint
Bad news, Sandal. They come even bigger than crows! My cats a few years ago when a wild turkey visited the birdbath on the deck : βWhat the hell is that?β
Patchouli I amb in the San Fransisco Bay Arya. Thad's not goink to flye. I amb keebing the watch. they comb on the fens an I chasse them ov but those suckres arr bigge an altho nott smardt they seem to no wen i go insied.
Unfortunately Dave, I think you need to take Sandal to the zoo, so he may observe lions and tigers and restore his faith in the superiority of the feline.
Haha. My cat collects feathers and brings them home so we brought home a Canadian Goose feather we found at the park. She was seriously unimpressed when we presented it to her. Backed off and refused to play with it π *this bird is too big and I canβt beat it in a fight*
I do wonder what goes through their minds when we show them the "birds for cats" videos on the computer monitor and they're much bigger than IRL. Somehow they still know these giant computer birds are prey.

Iβm leaving that there because itβs HILARIOUS! π

Given sheβs also scared of boxes weβre thinking of having her genetically tested to determine if sheβs really a cat.
