Brutal shooting conditions this morning, but if an egret is going to look at me directly from about 30 ft away with their neck curled up into their body, your damn right I'm going to take a picture of it and post it to the internet. πͺΆ

Amazing!
I love ALL of your photos, but every time I come across them I see this and jump a bit as I think it is a little bug on my screen lol.π«£π
What an incredible shot! Would you be interested in sharing the backstory of this image in a Dodo article? Iβm a staff writer for The Dodo and can send you some interview questions via DM or email if youβre interested!
Hey ashley, big supporter of your union, not sure how much I have to say in words, I think a bird expert would be better for you or I could find someone from the Wilderness Reserve who could give you more compelling answers and a stronger story? Email me banditelli@gmail
Thanks, sometimes they're super hard to get because you got to catch it when the bird is moving its head so you'll take 50 shots and only have two that are perfectly aligned, but totally worth it. No one sees the other 49 and you don't remember them
I followed you years ago (on the other site) for labor stuff but you pretty much singlehandedly turned me into a true member of The Official Bird Fan Club and now my timeline is about 25% birds which is just fine. I even installed that Merlin app. Your pics are always my favorites still.
Awesome. Next download inaturalist and ebird and find ALL THE GOOD THINGS in your travels! Unfortunately they don't track labor disputes, but hey, we still got our pals at @cornellilr.bsky.social lol
Hello fellow bird photographer, have you heard of the heated camera muffs you can buy? They have been a lifesaver for me for cold weather photos ππΌ
Won't keep you in suspension.π
It was a pike.
Was watching this go down with two elderly ladies who commented they didn't believe it could swallow it. I assured them I've seen them swallow even bigger prey and it obliged.
This Looks so insanely weird from the front. I mean Iβve seen their necks disappear in the Wild a zillion times, and never could quite figure out quite where they went. But, this is just bizarre looking.

I raise you a booby.
??
This is a SPECTACULAR shot.
(This is hilarious and also neat to see how much their eyes angle downwards)
looks like it has two necks
Poor bastard looks goofy as hell
Thanks!
From the front: βRUN FOR THE CAR, MABEL, THE ALIENS HAVE LANDED!β
Like what even is going on with that anatomy!
Will reveal later.
If so, no.
