Yeah. I came into this comment to note that he recently did an interview where it seems clear he did real self reflection and is embarrassed by the whole thing. That doesn’t justify it but in an era of defiant bigotry it does make me feel like it’s notable.
Public opinion seems to have shifted in his favour lately, though I assume that's because there are more and more grown adults who haven't seen the footage. They act like he gently misspoke.
I commend Michael Richards for not turning to the right-wing grift circuit, like so many other justifiably criticized celebs do, after his shameful moment in the spotlight.
There are still papists mad about things she said and wrote other than that SNL broadcast though. (I'm on the east side of the Atlantic, I doubt much made it over your way)
i am pretty sure it still runs on local channels - i'm on the east coast - had a local PIX11 affiliate (antenna tv) on in the background heard an ad mentioning the show being on (weekends, i think) - was kinda shocked, considering.
Like I said, a man being convicted and becoming a criminal isn’t “cancel culture” any more than any other criminal being convicted. Is it cancel culture when a drunk driver kills a family and gets convicted?
