It depends on what size "guy" you are, not to mention your in-group-out-group status, how much defense you can't afford and so on. But "the law" will always bind the little guy.
I always believed if you got away, you were free... Like they had to stop and catch you right there. Couldn't go arrest you later, once you got home. Dangerous message indeed.
It makes me feel a lot less guilty about crossing state lines to get the weed I need to treat my depression, anxiety, chronic migraines, panic attacks, and insomnia.
What I do is minor compared to what the so-called leader of our country is pulling every fucking day.
how long until magats break laws and, say, business contracts *because if trump can do it,…* and then international trade takes a hit when foreign business leaders don‘t want to do business with us companies anymore
Especially since the MAGA SC Justices, Abandoned their Oath to the Constitution by giving a Guilty Convicted Traitor with 34 Felonies by a Jury, Immunity. MAGA’s don’t Comply or Give a Damn about the Law. But We Must Comply or DIE. It’s a War of Lawlessness.
Breaking the law will *always* be problematic for we peasants; someone smarter than I pointed out how "the law" is used to differentiate between groups.
Well honestly, it was always kind of ok to break the law if you're rich or powerful enough.
Or if you're a corporation, which diffuses the blame, and only ever gets fined, thus punishing the investors instead of jailing the actual *people* who made the decision to break the law.
"I don't know what you kids are up to, but I do know one thing: laws are threats made by the dominant socio-economic, ethnic group in a given nation. It's just a promise of violence that's enacted and police are basically an occupying army, you know what I mean? You guys want to make some bacon?"
This still holds true for most Americans. You break the law you do the time but now we live in a time of untouchables. They can do ANYTHING with no penalty. That's the way the American people voted.
The democrats tried to pass a non-binding resolution in 2009 saying it was illegal to do against the law stuff, but the parliamentarian shut it down because they couldn’t come up with a cool acronym for it
The story follows both heroes as they try to unravel the problem from different ends, each believing the other to be the villain. They have a big fight, then realize they're basically fighting for the same things, and team up against billionaires for the big finale.
Just keep declaring yourself the law and order guy and ignore anyone who points out how ridiculously hypocritical you are and you'll be fine, assuming you've already made it clear you'll deport or destroy anyone mildly inconvenient.
The court has now ended our experiment in separation of powers. The President is now a “super justice” so if he says it’s legal, then it’s legal (Nixons dream). Trump is also a “super legislator” since he can take monies constitutionally allocated by congress and use them for whatever he wants.
In fairly recent years, if you got a ton of $$$$, laws, justice, morality, empathy, common sense, etc. does not matter. Cruelty, judgement, and ABUSE towards anyone different is cool and fucking legal.
Not all with $$$$ do harm, but TOO MANY WITH POWER. FUCK THEM!
I interpreted that to mean he was saying that anyone who assassinated FOTUS may be committing a murder, but they would be doing what is best for society and therefore would not be held liable in court.

Now I think about it, that's probably a privilege thing...
Most Conservative pseudointellectuals are pretty fucking stupid, but Benny takes it to a new level.

I had taught them crime doesn't pay. Imagine my embarrassment.
Yay capitalism 🫠
One way or another.
