'Female protagonist is an ace mecha pilot' is so much more interesting to me than 'special princess with special magic powers from a special bloodline'.

that whole magic bloodline is like, white supremacy/eugenics coded to me.
i don't mind people having born-with powers, but tying it to their ancestors feels super icky to me.
Tho the special magic powers are more due to shady government experimentation, and she kinda hates that fact because she had no control over that choice. The government just gave her abyssal blood to create a weapon. So dislikes em.
I like how that description is also the exact opposite of LeLouche from Code Geass who is a male protagonist, an awful mech pilot, and a prince with magic powers. 🤣
same honestly even as an occasional enjoyer of the latter, ideally minus special bloodline. for a number of reasons but mainly they always pull their punches on “power” “princess” or both
I had to go and read back up on it, but this is basically part of the plot of Cross Ange. Special Princess with magical powers is found out to not actually have special powers like the rest of her bloodline and is cast out to fight monsters as part of a mecha piloting mercenary/prison outfit.
But what if that special princess with special magical powers from a special bloodline was being forced to marry the ugly troll of a neighboring kingdom, so she disguised herself and joined the Air Force? It wasn't long before she qualified to test pilot the "Mecha Wing" against the alien invasion.
I just remembered people were theorizing Suletta was an engineered superbaby or cyborg or something midway through cour 2 lol. I think based only on that scene of her lifting concrete debris? Occasionally, hilariously, citing her beating Bob in that sword fight?
I saw so many people saying they didn't finish it because its a highschool anime and I'm not sure they even made it three episodes in, hell the first episode has an assassination attempt
Yeah. Being an ace pilot implies you have to train to get that good (or at least have great spatial awareness) as opposed to magical powers that you get at birth.

Give my a growth mindset, overcoming BS, becoming the best version you choose to be.
Make your own fate!
That’s what we all want in life.
Destiny sucks the purpose out of existence.
maybe be forced to start in the dregs of mecha training, a janitor whose job it is to clean out sweaty cockpits after a long day of battles.
That second one is just stuff you HAVE, that says nothing about you. That'd be like me describing myself as 'brown-haired'.
Only real flaw is that the second season is rushed and should have been two seperate seasons.
✅ Protagonist gets special powers through hard work, grit and cunning
