Have successfully GMed my first session of D&D! I think it went pretty well, and everyone seemed to have fun. :D
It was a oneshot that was supposed to take two hours and ended up being three and a half. Who playtests these and comes up with durations, honestly?

As you get more experienced, you will get a feel for how to run a game in a fixed time window.
More important, though, is to keep players engaged. Everyone having a good time is much more important than sticking to a schedule for the vast majority of GMs.
Being behind the screen, smithing plans and concocting troubles for your players, is an amazing feeling.
Things taking longer than expected is a good sign! 👍
I honestly feel like I could have done better at that with Witchlight
As a rule, 90% of the time you'll find that you vastly overprepped for a session, and the other 10% of the time your players do something so off-the-wall that your prep becomes largely irrelevant, anyways 🤣
Yeah, times are always crazy. I played at a table where we had fun just RPing so we only got through the first encounter. We called that a win.
Have fun!
