too bad we can’t stockpile meds because insurance & schedule II laws. i support hoarding all the other things & strong recommend the Corsi-Rosenthal box & masking with Powecom (thanks ball chain mfg for continuing to supply) & reiterate the stocking of masks due to incoming tariffs & wow.
you can absolutley stockpile meds. claim to have worse symptoms than you do so you get given higher doses, then take less. skip days when you don't have to do anything. keep it all in a well-hidden dry dark place.
for stuff where doses are determined by blood test, skip before the test.
The Chinese Communists call these re-education camps. Backbreaking labor, no healthcare, starvation diets. What could go wrong?
Also author Philip Roth wrote about an ultra conservative pro-Nazi white supremacist winning the presidency and creating labor camps in his novel The Plot Against America.
I’m actually glad to see someone with ADHD worried about this. I’m not in the US but my first thought on his appointment was that ADHD meds would be restricted even more than they are now.
ADHD meds and SSRIs are subject to already-overstretched supply chains and are regularly in short supply WITH most of the government trying to get them to people. It won't take much for an antagonistic HHS to make it effectively impossible for people to obtain them.
Also, you cannot get ADHD meds or SSRIs in more than 90-day prescriptions in the USA. There is only so much "stocking up" you can do before having to start planning your vacations around where it is easiest to get these meds.
30 day limit for my ADHD meds where I live (IL). Even if I skip a day to have a cushion, it almost always takes a few extra days at the end of the month for the pharmacy to have them in stock to process my refills. Sometimes 2 days, this month it was over a week, so the cushion gets used up fast.
Feels like a logical extension of “pro life” employers getting to ban contraception and abortion health care coverage for their employees that some utter crackpot on a vendetta can briefly get a government position and turn off whole branches of medication he doesn’t like
I guess I'm glad I've just suffered with ADHD without medication for so long... I'll at least be "ready" to continue going unmedicated for a problem that probably would've caused me to get dashed against the rocks in an earlier, shittier time
Damn, I was really hoping ADHD meds were going to be the one thing kind of safe from this administration, since we know how many of them take Adderall recreationally…
To be clear, I didn’t think the procurement of them was going to get easier, or that supply issues were going to stop, just that they weren’t going to actively try and make things worse.
I preface this by saying, I have zero interest in politics. I am poor, disabled and severely depressed. I think Cheeto man and all his cronies are pure distilled evil.
How much of this is real? How much of it is fearmongering? Will these insane plans actually make it through congress or whatever?
Then he will not live very long. I suspect. Just my little humble ( snicker), thought. We need as many mindless nuts as Russian led Trumpshitsky can appoint. Shucks, Russia is such a beautifully led STATE.
Highly “unqualified puppets” working for trump, (working for Putin)! RFK, Jr. best not actually get that job. We really could approach some VERY VERY SERIOUS Consequences. I suspect protests WILL NEED TO OCCUR VERY SOON, To WAKE BIDEN UP THAT RECOUNTS/AUDITS Must Occur ASAP! MANDATORY !!!
The only silver lining is that his position on adhd meds and SSRIs would definitely piss off Pharma and their bottom lines. Psych meds make up 13 of the top 50 most prescribed meds in the US.
May be enough for them to lobby against his nomination.
That's fucked. Most of those really suck to quit cold turkey. Not to mention, I know so many people who say they vastly improved their quality of life and don't know how they could function without them. They're not just brainwashed by Big Pharma. They've noticed a real positive difference.
"Big pharma" is a double edged sword, they've chased profits at our expense (I'm talking price-gouging, not this tinfoil hat bullshit)
That sucked, BUT it created a market/billionaires that will squash Kennedy like a bug for interfering with profits.
The Trump regime is more Oligarchy than fascist.
While everything else is bad, this is what strikes the fear of God into me.
But, he can't unilaterally or instantly ban anything, or order the pharma companies to stop making them. That would have to go through so many people, departments, divisions, and states first.
Is there anywhere else where it's been indicated that this is likely to happen? I have seen this particular RFK story shared a lot, and it's def scary, but it's not going as far as to say they will dial back availability of the medication across the country? I know, wishful thinking on my end...
I'm a very, very big human and the one and only time I had a psychotic break in my life my mom hadda hold my hand the entire way to the hospital and sit with me the entire time in the ED because I was dead certain everyone was part of a plot to kill me.
I'm medicated and it's been many years, but it was a near thing. Putting me in RFK Jr's gulag would get me, and very possibly a lot of other people, killed.
And between doctors and insurance and the ADHD meds being "controlled," there's not a ton we can do to stockpile anything, either. I hate this timeline.
Thank you for pointing this out. I keep seeing people recommend stocking up on medications, and I was starting to think everyone knew some magic loophole or a prescription fairy.
I get severe withdrawal symptoms if I miss a single dose of my meds... I can't imagine missing more than that! I've been taking them my entire life, and now I'm sincerely worried for us all.
this is very scary. but the fda has always sucked at mental health treatments. they are obsessive about drugs being Proven useful, and yet they often ban Effective drugs.
There's a UK company that introduced a headset that supposedly produces similar effects to SSRI's. It's called Flow Neuroscience. It's not at all cheap at about $500. But if you had one of these it could maybe help if/when they ban the medication. I'm seriously considering getting one.
Of course not. And none of the wealthy or well-connected, either.
This sort of bullshit is always meant for the people who can't afford to fight or bribe their way out of it.
The mental health crisis that 'sunshine and touching grass' will cause will be enormous and the MSM will try to find every way of praising him by finding one or two plants who say "This actually solved all my problems"
There are lots of reasons to be concerned about the prospect of RFK as HHS Secretary. But this scenario is all but impossible simply because he does not have the authority (e.g. only Congress can authorize spending). To effectively criticize Kennedy the claims have to be credible. This is not that.
"Don't overreact, the rules say he can't do that," has been said repeatedly before every time a Republican then does that, whatever That is, for decades now. The rules only matter to people who care about the rules. Congress removes its spine for GOP presidents. This take is wildly unserious.
Don't despair in advance, Trump's not some kind of evil wizard who can just snap his fingers, and instantly turn everything terrible :P
That's what they want you to do, so don't give it to them. Do you know how many potential steps they'd have to go through?
Burying your head in the sand isn't any more helpful. Don't pretend they haven't consistently gotten away with violating rules and norms without meaningful consequence, and are poised and eager to do it even more than ever before.
TL;DR:
-get vaccinated (Covid-19, flu, plus tetanus or Gardasil if needed)
-book medical appointments asap
-stock up on KN95/N95/KF94 masks and SSRIs
-get HEPA air purifier(s) (store-bought, used or DIY)
-contact elected representatives
-mask indoors and in crowds outdoors; avoid indoor dining
-
Anybody who wants to chime in on the DIY pair purifiers ... I've got a long shopping list as it is and don't want to wind up in a debtors' work camp.. I kid. Sort of. *sigh*
Additionally:
- If you can get together with some friends you can buy the filters in bulk which saves a lot of money.
- If you're sensitive to noise--the cheapest box fans are pretty loud--you can build them with 120mm DC fans as well (a bit more complicated and at higher cost)
These work GREAT-last summer 1 member of our household got COVID & this was running in our house because of wildfire smoke; day later tested+ (then quarantined) & no one else got it.
Powecom KN95s for everyday (behind the head straps great for glasses/ hearing aids), a GVS Elipse P100 for "I have NO idea what the air situation is and there's a lot of people here," like the airport. TSA doesn't love that but oh well. https://www.gvs.com/en/catalog/elipse-p100-with-source-control-niosh-respirator
I wear Powecoms with head straps for breathability and no mask fog with my glasses but also like the 3M Auras and Envomask Pro for a reusable respirator. You want a snug fit with a good seal on your face. Face sizes vary. I would buy a few at an Asian grocery store to test the fit.
Some medications are cheap through discount programs and if you’re not using insurance and it’s not a controlled substance you can get all the refills at once if you want. Pharmacy law allowing. It does in my state.
I am the last man on earth to defend the guy who saws the heads off whales, plays with bear cub corpses and hides them like Easter eggs, eats roadkill and game without utter sterilization contracting all manner of parasites
but he describes it as an opt-in environment, not a sentenceable punishment
And the most horrific part of all of this is that these are the least concerning of their policies! (Not saying that these aren't life-saving medications, just that healthcare overall has never been more threatened.)
So reading his quote in the article, I understand his point. What he’s suggesting sounds like an intentional community, I might actually enjoy organic farming with a social group, adhd is way worse with computers and social isolation. But this sounds like a government mandated rehab labor camp.
It's sooooo important to fact check the information you share regarding the election and cabinet picks. We're only going to discredit ourselves and come off as fear-mongering fake news propagandists — in their words.
& did you watch the video? One of the wonderful things about our technological age is that you can watch video of basically everything and do not need to rely on news to tell you what the video contains. You can see someone with your own eyes, AI video notwithstanding
It didn't make me "feel better". I already explained myself: There is no need to exaggerate or lie about what RFK/any of these Trumpers say. It's better to stay credible and tell the truth.

Maybe he still is, that would explain a lot

Call your senator ?
Certainly Dem senators need to have spine stiffeners
But I think S Collins Maine, Murkowski AK, maybe others
what else can we do that is practical ?

They get all the good drugs for themselves, but we might not be able to get the meds we need to function effectively. Sigh.
Guess it's time to skip my ADHD meds on the weekends again to build a stockpile. Now if I can just remember to get my refills!

Very cool. Thanks, America. Having a great time.
I was extremely dangerous and very lucky.
The only way to stockpile them is to illegally buy someone else's prescription.
I work 2 jobs and have ADHD, I would literally die in a car accident without my meds

Maybe if I do bankruptcy as one of the first things?
Even with insurance, pharmacies are barely willing to fill a normal monthly refill.
