Wanna remind everyone here, that no social media is toxic by default. It becomes that the more people join. Enjoy the low user base now as that reduces chances of it. But don't think this it's utopia away from that, please, be realistic and see it as just another avenue
Comments
There was an incident before many people joined recently, where a prominent bskyer known to all abused their curator power.
It got better after I liked a few things and started following people.
The anime/furry posts still show up about midway through my discover page.

Toxicity in your face.
And the people who are there, who are toxic,
Actively have issues with this place and
Won’t come.
I could go on.
To be toxic after Elon had it.
Report if genuinely harmful, if everyone can follow those basic principles we can all have a better platform.
We can at least stem the tide by keeping things positive while we can and shutting down toxicity where it appears. We have an opportunity to at least keep it under containment, even if just a moderate amount.
block ppl you don’t wanna hear from, mute tags and words, and remember that the person ur arguing with is just a random username that shouldn’t impact your day in any major way
The other site became so much worse the moment they could see botting would not be pushing, and you could monetize being a toxic person.
But yea, the bigger it gets the more you’ll see you dislike.
admittedly one of the things I do wish we get implemented eventually from [redacted site] is the community notes as it helps drive away any misinformation, cites sources, etc
We have moderation lists, that blocks/mute a lot of people at once, there is no billionaire or huge company behind it to want money at the cost of good service, and the idea of other servers in the future can make trolls be easily+
So yeah, I’m not 100% all in that this place will be good forever
But I really think that compared to other social media, this place has the best bet
Moderation at scale is a challenge few have ever succeeded at.
I'm just here to post art and manga translation edits.
• It’s quality of moderation actions and tools, by user and site (mute? is blocking useless, medium, or nuclear?).
• It’s how the tools for interaction reward that interaction (quote dunking, paying racists for bad takes, bad metrics think hate = engagement).
I’ve seen so much the past 6 months that would have gotten your account axed in 2018.
Anger drives engagement.
Social media sites like Twitter and Facebook all actively promote toxicity as much as possible because it makes people stay on the site longer. On top of this, Twitter and Facebook do not have moderation
you're right, its inevitable, but if we have tools to tailor our experience that actually work it should be much better
