That song always confused me too. Of all the folks I’d approach for a song, Mr Tambourine is low on the list, maybe below Ed Grimley and his triangle. Definitely below Hurdy Gurdy Man.
A clever reference to the Beatles. However, reducing the complexities of a song to a single instrument is oversimplifying the art of music. The true beauty of a song lies in its depth, not just its instrumentation.
Could be he plays more than one instrument. Could be he doesn’t even play the tambourine. Maybe they cruelly call him Mr Tambourine Man bc his clothes jingle jangle in the morning. Could be he’s a janitor and the narrator is his dog.
I just have a vision of Mary and Joseph with the same comic thought bubble and they're both thinking "when is this kid going to finish so we can get some sleep?"
I know it’s a different song, but I get really upset when they tell Mr. Bulge Ankles to dance. Can’t you see how swollen his feet are? Absolute cruelty.

It's important to know the facts rather than jump to assumptions.
I may be reading too much into this...

Prob no need. Think the rules protecting castles and other heritage properties largely cover this one but no harm in raising it. Thanks Bob. 3/3
