Were whites only fountains "distractions?" Or were they explicitly a way to say that Black people had no right to free movement and were inherently second class? Come on. If some Black people said it was a distraction, that's an opinion. But STRUCTURALLY it was NOT a distraction.

I honestly don't know, but I wonder if there white "allies" trying to prove scientifically that Black people weren't "too dirty" to use the same fountains. The DEBATE is the distraction.
it was never about that any more than it's about trans people attacking others in bathrooms
I personally think one of the undergirders of transphobia is racism. The panic about medical treatments for kids affecting their repro systems is because they won't have white babies.
I believe there are still some religious groups with this sort of practice.
I admittedly don't know much about this practice, but it's always struck me as a noteworthy segregationist parallel.
Nothing new about structural racism or elite thinking that twists or dismisses language and terminology to underscore the rights of the privileged while reinforcing the lack of dignity of the "other."
It was wrong then and it’s wrong now.
*Operating on a _spectrum_ of violence
but the oppressors rely on everyone thinking there's a hivemind while also relying on there not being one to find people to speak less negatively about their oppression.
Fuck them all

Appointing total loons, degenerates, and grifters to important positions == distractions.
We need to ignore those distractions to fight the real fight, which is when rights are infringed and they start the roll back of basic equality.
She said hate is nothing more than a personal opinion.
I really love her for telling me that so young.
The hard right is allowed here anytime they want, as long as they STFU or at least try to be rational human beings.
I have yet to see this!
That's not OUR fault.
Trespassing and loitering laws were written to criminalize non whites doing things white people were doing.
So, it was a reason for police to make an arrest of a non white.
Why revisit it
Try deal with today? and get a better world
It makes me sick to go back through American history and how black people were treated
Sure we need to know but not wallow in it
I think a lot has changed anyway
Women (including transwomen) need to lead the people's movement to organize a genuine opposition to the oligarchs. They are going to start another schism with this if we let them. They are using actual apartheid AS A distraction. It's both.
