I’ve never seen it, but thanks to the Red Dwarf ‘Universe Challenge’ special from Red Dwarf Night on BBC 2 in about 1997, I know it stars Ray Winston and Danny John-Jules.

I was surprised Mick Ford didn’t have a bigger career after that - perhaps people thought he was Steven Pacey who looks and sounds similar.

My mates and I Snuck into the local cinema when Scum got its release.
Smoked like chimneys all the way through.
Came out committing never to do crime ever again unless we had socks and pool balls to hand.

Great film. The original banned BBC version is worth seeing too if you can find it.

I understand why they don't do telly plays anymore, but they really give the space to let dialogue speak for itself.

I assume sets used to be very expensive, so they'd televise plays set in one room.

And that perhaps they don't think people are so into dialogue based stuff. Things like Adolescence do come along though.
