Great post. Every single day I think about those who fought tyranny so I could enjoy the freedoms I have. I do not take it lightly. We are here today because people died for us. We owe those people our eternal gratitude. Each day, I do just that.
This wouldn't even happen in the army today w a Pete Hegseth in charge.
They were far more racist in the 1940s. No historian documented this.
Hollywood lies about "true stories" to sell movies. They're in financial trouble. Remaking Road House & Megalopolis. Lying repeatedly.
My ancestors fought in every single American war. My uncle might have been marching in that photo but we will never know because he was KIA on Christmas Day 1944.
My entire life spans these dates, and I now think America and our European allies are in just as much danger from Trump as they were from Hitler. And I don't think the Biden Administration or the Democrats in Congress are taking this danger seriously enough yet.
My brother in law’s dad was there. He didn’t talk much about it but once when he did said what he remembered most 50 years later was just how cold he was.
My ancestors fought against the tyrant King George in the American Revolution. My grandparents helped defeat the fascists in WWII. What in their fevered minds makes MAGAs think that I will disgrace these sacrifices by bending the knee to traitor Trump, the would-be-dictator?!!!
My 6ggrandfather died in the American Revolution. My dad fought in Korea. I served in the Cold War, battered around in the North Atlantic trying to foil the Soviets.
None of us served for the absolute parasitical shit that is MAGA, or its dear leader, the orange parasite.
🎯 I wonder if this 🇺🇸 digression would be, had we not lost most of our “greatest generation”, the Holocaust survivors and all those impacted by these past wars. My dad shot up 12.31.44 (his birthday), Battle of the Bulge. He survived. Original Mpls Vetrans’ Affairs Officer. He’d be furious. 🙏🏼🇺🇸🌏🕊️
You are all are an amazing hero families. Keep the ancestors proud. Stay in the struggle for democracy. And thank you so much. Bless, bless, bless you all. 💙
So: Trump will invade Greenland, Mexico, Canada and Panama. Trump/Musk will completely gut social security. Gone forever. Food assistance and medicare will disappear forever. all unions busted. minimum wage back down to 5/hour. We will be relocated to work camps for Musk. And nice democrats allow it
Let's not ever forget who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms we enjoy today, certainly not a 5 time draft dodger fake bone spur coward asshole motherfucker.
I think you folks are great! But isn’t it time to move on from the REPUBLICAN moniker. Fact is there is no such thing as a republican party. There really isn’t what you might call a Conservative Party. What we have now is a MAGA CULT which has no resemblance to anything republican or conservative.
My father’s coworker, another union electrician, was over our house before Christmas. When my mother stepped into the house from taking out the trash she said”it’s cold outside “. He looked at me and said “not as cold as Bastogne”. And that was all he said about his Christmas of 1944.
My dad was in the Pacific in 1944. Every time I think of the sacrifices that those men and women made then, I get angry at what has happened to our democracy.
I am only one, but I will resist until the scourge of Fascism is excised from our country.
It was a observation on how Stephen Ambrose completely rewrote the history of the 506th, missed bits out, made up other bits & generally created a huge myth about one specific rifle company's role in WW2.
What? WW2 was about Christmas? As a European I‘m as thankful that the US helped us to get rid of our fascist leaders as I‘m frustrated to not be able to help to get rid of yours. But Christmas was never at stake.
Can’t imagine what it was like to be in a fox hole in negative temperatures, while sitting across from millions of people who want you dead. We could have done better.
i remember my Dad telling me that one morning they were so excited to get hot cakes with butter - but they were bummed out because the "butter" (a new thing called margarine) didn't melt on the hot cakes and they all just stared at it
The OG Antifa❤️ I hope more people come to realize that neither democrats nor republicans have your back. Both parties pander to the oligarchs, the dems just have better PR.
These heroes were fighting the same people that Elon Musk and Donald Trump are embracing, namely Nazis. Don’t forget that America. They are openly embracing German Nazis as we speak. Our father’s brother’s grandfather’s died to save our country and this so called president is on their side.
Those guys didn't have a chance in the eyes of the nazis but the 101st and 82nd airborne were the best soldiers in the world at that time and gave the nazis hell. When asked to surrender the US commander McAuliffe said 'nuts' as his reply. Germans didn't understand what 'nuts' meant
My dad might be in this picture. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge as part of the US Army Corps of Engineers attached to the 3rd Armored Division. He literally killed Nazis. His ghost is agitated now.
Also, the dwindling generation of Holocaust survivors and battered WWII survivors, would call out the danger. Wish they could reach out from the grave, teach these Fascist Mother F**krs a lesson.
People have obviously forgotten the death camps, the slaughters the deprivation when the GOP were in power in the 1930’s & 40’s.
It took the world to mobilise to rid ourselves of the evil bastards!
I have NO desire to relive what we should have been hard coded into our DNA back then.
Our parents and grandparents held their breath, reading war news and checking lists of the dead. Boy Scouts gathered scrap metal. Families planted war gardens. Wives sent crushed packages of food and letters, hoping to reach husbands so very far away.
Every one of these brave men fought was wounded and or died so you assholes could elect a president like Donald Trump I hope you're proud of yourselves because I'm damn sure not proud of you
Maybe start by improving education. Many of these voters have been seen on TV & I’d be very surprised if some of them could even read let alone realise what is happening to them.
But I have no pity for them. I am not a typical progressive; I am fully capable of confrontation and choose hatred because hatred is appropriate here. But they will all soon be screaming like wee B when he sticks it to them…as he definitely will! Maybe I can pity them then….NOT, haha
How can we "fight" against the constant blast of disinformation coming from Fox, the right-wing media ecosystem, the Russian propaganda, etc? We need to muster basic truth and facts to reach social agreements, but they make that impossible as long as we can't stop the freedom to lie.
I’d like to see the report cards of MAGA and all right-wing GOP when they were growing up. I’m guessing you’ll find a lot of F grades in at least history and science.
The saddest thing is that this kind of sacrifice is not possible today. Americans are way too brainwashed with russian nazi propaganda. russians own twitter, fox news, rogan... all spew russian propaganda. Musk repeats that propaganda verbatim and trump says he'll let putin do whatever he wants...
It is terrifying how many don't care about this. So many today just don't get it. They are fed a stead diet of lies and they have become complacent in their own ignorance.
My father served as a fire controlman on a destroyer up close to the beach on D-Day. The Herndon bagged a Nazi plane and put down covering fire onshore. He did his job, survived that hell, and I'm glad he's not here now to see what's happening.
I feel the same. Particularly about my very Republican grandmother. She had one son land on D Day and another in The Pacific. She would not understand what happened to the Republican party. She sure as hell would not have voted for Trump.
If these brave men could see what is happening to this country now it would break their hearts. The fascism they fought against has found roots right here in this country.
The main lesson I’ve taken from World War II and all that went on in that period of time is that evil has to be overcome with greater force a lot of times. Maybe this time.
To all the dolts that don’t support our military and our service members - the troops are why you can sit in a safe space closet and complain about not getting trigger warnings or not getting a $250k a yr job with a communications degree. We owe everything to our military and troops. Everything.
South africa was pretty much out of the fight by then the troops that ended up on the western front where primarily consolidating allied positions same for those in Italy a year later the war was over and withdrew
Only to return to exact spot they died for but in our country. How sad it was for so many to die in vein. ( Well many got to live a life due to the actions of those who gave everything, but we gave it all up so sadly it’s vein)
Christmas 1944 my Dad spent it in a POW camp having been injured and captured at the Battle of Arnhem. He would be turning in his grave if he knew that people were electing Fascists like Trump or Farage in 2024.
This war would not have been won in Europe and here in the. U. K. 🇬🇧 I may have been speaking German if not for the sacrifices of our Allies. U S. A. Canada. Australia 🇨🇦🇦🇺. Russia ! And all the commonwealth countries I lost 2 uncles post war from injuries in Europe Lest we forget
My dad marched across Europe in the Battle of the Bulge and participated in freeing the Buchenwald death camp. That’s why I hate Nazis. After experiencing MAGA, you’d think he marched alone.
Special shoutout to the Japanese-American members of the 442d Infantry who fought for the US despite their families and their communities still being locked up wholesale in prison camps because their loyalty was suspect.
I am faithful to the U.S. Constitution and will not tolerate betrayal of it because I have many family that served, including WW2, and their service earned my loyalty. Their service is why I will not be seduced by fascism in any form or guise.

Have a great day

I'm German. Would you please keep Musk and Trump from destroying Europe?
Or other neo-Nazi parties?
The other far-right party NPD ("Die Heimat" = the homeland) is too small to be a threat.
Anthony De Guglielmo,
was among those men here fighting for our perfectly imperfect Democracy….
As was my Dad and all my uncles.
God bless them all 🙏🐾💙🎊

Now MAGA are the fascists.
I am only one, but I will resist until the scourge of Fascism is excised from our country.
Merry Christmas everyone.
Hopefully he is turfed out in 2025
Next year some time
Makes no sense!
Different year, same Nazis.
RIP for all American soldiers who died for our country. RIP for all innocent Ukrainians, Georgian & Syrians, etc. 😭😭
Top bunch of lads.
#TrueStory
Wonder if all this crazy would be happening if their generation was still here.💔
Some of them are going to be pardoned if the Tangerine tyrant follows through on his promises.
Can open warfare be avoided?
While not on our shores, WWII was most definitely about our freedom.
It took the world to mobilise to rid ourselves of the evil bastards!
I have NO desire to relive what we should have been hard coded into our DNA back then.
All for freedom.
Slava Ukraini! Heroiam slava!
Instead, give them your pity. It will drive them mad.
We must never forget that they fought & bled & died, OR what they fought & bled & died for.

This is the inevitable result of Republicanism. There is nothing to celebrate in 2024.
Trumpism is treasonous.
Of the Bulge! #FukkScumbagCowardTrump

Ignorance and indifference are the counter weight to freedom and bravery. We won in '44, lost in '24
