Costco: We are fair to our employees, good to our customers, responsive to local cultures with our products; plus, we contribute to our stores' surrounding communities. Any questions?
Costco proves that a company can pay a living wage, can hire a diverse work force, keep prices low while still making a good profit and enriching stock holders.
Diversity is essential in business to solve problems. We need many perspectives, shaped by our unique experiences and backgrounds to see the whole picture. However by valuing where we come from & how we think, not just surface traits, we gain the insight needed to make informed, effective decisions.
That's why all the Costcos are stupid busy. Keep pissing those shareholders off. Your customers are the most diverse. I lived half way between 2 Costcos (both 10 minutes from my house). One we called the Italian Costco and the other the Indian Costco.
The end is saddened to learn Costco CEO (an acceptable one apparently) doesn't understand that applying value to or removing value from a human being based on the shape and color of their genitalia is wrong.
As RACIRS's anti-cult actions and rhetoric gain visibility in Europe, the situation grows concerning. Check out the article "EUROPE, OPEN YOUR EYES IF YOU DON'T WANT WAR" at actfiles . org
The thing that gets me about the premise of being “anti-dei” is that people who claim to be anti-dei are really just saying that their “default status” of a person is the straight, white, cis, christian, male. And, while that wouldn’t normally be a problem, anti-dei can be weaponized against that.
THIS is what makes COSTCO special. They had the the same stubbornness about giving their workers healthcare - they were RIGHT then and ARE RIGHT NOW!! ❤️❤️
Costco, not a stupid operator.
As of 11/24 Costco operates 890 warehouses worldwide: 616 in US & Puerto Rico, 109 in Canada, 41 in Mexico, 36 in Japan, 29 in UK, 19 in South Korea, 15 in Australia, 14 in Taiwan, 7 in China, 5 in Spain, 2 in France, 1 in Iceland, 1 in NZ &1 in Sweden.
Again, inclusive = everyone. DEI policies seek to ensure ALL voices are considered and valued, regardless of what identities you belong to. It aims to deconstruct unconscious bias and create a sense of belonging for the entire group.
It does this by diminishing the voices of some and raising the voices of others. That's what equity is. Equality would be giving all voices equal volume.
I love this. The shareholders voted against a proposal by the National Center for Public Policy Research. This is why I love Costco. They have guts to
do the right thing. I also love their affordable prices and the fact that they always donate food to our local food bank!
If a bigoted board member can have his way at wanting to inflict discrimination as a business entitlement, I'm burning my COSTCO card and doing my best to encourage anyone I can to do the same.
Oh, please let this be the thing that makes the magats drop their memberships. I'm tired of tripping over their Scootypuff Jrs and hearing their complaints.
In light of the recent anti-DEI movement, I invite right wing politicians to support eliminating all fossil fuel industry subsidies. If all industries can't have subsidies, none of them should...
Your circular argument doesn't make sense, "Race should have no bearing on racism" The fact is, it does and that is what the data shows. That is what history shows up to the present. Public policy must be based on the data, not how a white privileged idiot feels.
Ever since 1967, when the Civil Rights Act passed, race was no longer a metric we could use to discriminate against people. Yet corporations and colleges kept it up because of Affirmative Action.
Good for them. A duty to hire for diversity equality & inclusion is NOT being “woke” it’s simply complying with legal obligations to NOT discriminate on the basis of personal characteristics & meet international law obligations! Those who say otherwise are trying to cover for nefarious practices!
Costco, as much as any public corporation can, stands for certain things. It won’t be intimidated by Reactionaries pushing ideologically whitewashed racism and sexism like that.
Been a Costco member for years and have always been surprised and happy with how diversified their workforce is (Canada.) Responding like this will just ensure I spend more with Costco and less with Walmart and I will tell both of them that every time I'm in their stores
Of course -- because the management team at Costco is interested in running a successful business and knows diversity is an asset for many important reasons. The bigots who buy stocks are under the influence of divisive propaganda they consume in order to keep themselves outraged.
Good on Costco, but your reporting is incomplete. It wasn’t really “shareholders” raising concerns about Costco’s DEI policies. It was a rightwing “think tank” that’s had a long history of denying the reality of climate change and advocating for regressive policies.
Just came out of Costco with my brand new membership card. This story prompted me to act on that "some day I'm going to try Costco" thought that's been bouncing around the back of my mind for a while.
Costco is awesome! Been a member for YEARS and they do not disappoint. Some wanted to raise the price of their food court hotdog and the CEO was like fck no! lol.
AND YET:
"Despite making $6.3 billion in profits last year, [COSTCO] seems to be shifting from its once pro-worker stance. Allegations of union-busting tactics, like removing union literature & locking union reps out of bulletin boards, aren't exactly a good look." https://finance.yahoo.com/news/costco-faces-strike-threat-6-173553258.html
as much as we hear about some orgs getting away from DEI theres still a lot that do, DEI ideas have been around for a long time now even though some call it woke agenda. those are same people who didnt like being told to be PC back in the 90s

You GOOOOOO Costco!!!!
I'm a shareholder and I support this decision.
.. but Costco is definitely one of them. They've shown themselves to be a benefit to humanity time and time again.
Shareholders can go play politics somewhere else.
Good on Costco corporate.

Employees at Costco always seem happy and are very helpful (in contrast to Walmart/Sam's).
BUT......
I'm a just gonna suck it up and be happy to support a global company with good employee ethics.
Those pearl clutching Karen’s, who are merely shareholders (fuck you) likely have no idea how to run a corporation.
So good to hear a company say, “no, we got this!”
Multiple Tweets on X are congratulating Costco because Costco backed down.
It’s completely opposite messaging here.
Example of blatant lies and misinformation on X
Elon’s Free Speech my Ass
Lies everywhere on X is a fact.
My son, as example, is a vision impaired cane user, & works in special education. It means a lot for his students to work with people like them.

If you know Southlake...you know
Look them up
So it's 2025 in 3 days. It's time we stop using racial discrimination as American policy when it violates already established law.
I blocked that account.
If we cut DEI, can we start being less inclusive to them first?!?
But the BlueSky block is undefeated.
Go buy Hobby Lobby ya bigots
