Those tops that screw on but then don't screw off because they have little teeth gripping it so you have to buy ANOTHER one of the products instead of buying a refill or using your own. So wasteful (and annoying).
I recognize the irony of me saying this on this platform, but social media has been the worst. The dream of the internet was to bring people together and democratization of knowledge has been usurped by the vitriol and brain rot that SM has cultivated. Ok I will get off my soap box now.
Thanks. It seems like the root cause of a lot of other folks answers. Plus I’m a scientist by training and disposition, even if not professionally anymore.
Technology. "It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity. If it keeps up, man will atrophy all his limbs but the push-button finger. The machine does not isolate man from the great problems of nature but plunges him more deeply into them."
The internet, hands down. The technology that makes all truths easily accessible to everyone on the planet also makes all lies easily implanted inside the skull of every moron on the planet.
This all day. People stopped believing in Magic long ago but held on to Religion. More believable that a dude has a rabbit stuffed in his hat than kids getting cancer to test your faith.
Please understand that any invention is a double-edge sword. None of our creations are inherently bad or good without examining the intentions of the user. That being said the internet is the worst. The ability to spread disinformation en masse will justify the misuse of all other inventions.
I grew up without the internet. The ability to access information far outweighs the negative spread of disinformation. Disinfo can be countered; people can learn to recognize it. Flip side, I can read Supreme Court rulings, or the Federal Register, learn how to quilt, and communicate with friends.
I agree with most of these; however, since I rarely do as I’m told, I think the BEST human invention would have to be language with its written form as a subtopic.
I agree that plastic can be very bad in our environment, but think of what we would lose if it all disappeared. It is nearly ubiquitous. Think about medical equipment, for example.

We have patriarchy, because of it.
We have murder, because of it.
Many humans think they are better than others, because of it.
On top of all this people still believe God will fix every problem they have.
A never ending very vicious circle.
No arguing there.
putting aside the people who did so intentionally of course.
I Just Want To Be Able To Reach My Hand Into One Without My Hand Being Squishhh

Life Isn't Fair.

Know about that scientist thing, still like bread AND butter 😉
Trying for a Noble in my spare time - and you can, too!
We are all addicted to it
Doesn't exist in any other legal capacity nor can it and everyone just kinda goes along with it
Then probably slavery at #2, supported and enabled as it has always been by #1
In all reality, plastic itself isn't a problem and is actually genius. However, capitalism can and will turn everything bad and plastic is included.
It's also the best thing.
Unfortunately, humans also use it.
