YES!! I said the same thing to someone last night... if we made our worst enemy the head of state, I'm not sure I can imagine how they could dismantle our country any more efficiently. Striking the perfect balance between maximum damage while minimizing clear points for outrage.
And what proof do we have that he is not? I believe firmly, given Trump's lack of morals & ethics, that his times spent in Russia gave plenty of opportunities to gather plenty of kompromat.
Why would the plant try to take Ukrainian minerals for the US? Its kind of just giving greed and imperialism. Russian plant would negotiate a ceasefire that preempts Ukraine joining NATO or EU. Exactly like what happened w/ Euromaidan. Thats the tell IMHO
They wouldn’t. Russia has annexed the US. The Feb 25 th US UN vote with Russia and North Korea, today’s televised shakedown attempt, and all the while Musk dismantles our government. Everything I see appears as a fait au complet
I’ve been saying a weird variation of this, but this hits the nail on the head! If some off planet alien species was trying to weaken us for an invasion, would it look materially different?
I'm not one who believes in the theory of a Russian plant. I do think Trump genuinely admires Putin and sees him as a kindred spirit and is thus doing this stuff because he believes in it, not because he's been paid or coerced to do it.
He’s been aligned w/Russian oligarchy since the 80s. Decades of Village Voice & NYC journalists laid it out plainly, along w/his mob ties. Ru has been baling him out/laundering $ thru real estate for decades. Transnational crime syndicate acting as government—of course Putin helps him destroy US.
I don’t think there’s a clear definition of “Russian plant,” but let’s not shrink from what we see just because it feels like a crank theory. Trump does things in Putin’s interests so consistently that it’s not just “game recognize game.” It’s a tacit or explicit quid pro quo.
I think that's really it. Trump advances Putin's interests notably more than US interests, and he does so with astonishing consistency. The motive/reason is interesting, but not all that important to gauging the effect.

But, Putin & Co have been over-the-top from the start of the war. Ex: painting UKR as Nazis in propaganda.
So Trump being over-the-top is both on brand for Trump, and for Putin at this moment.
Certainly very effective in rapidly destroying US-Europe relations.
But that's all I've got so far.
But I do not.
I think if John Iselin were a paid Soviet agent, he could not do more to harm this country than he's doing now.”

This was a despicable display of bullying.
And...I got nothing.
But it's impossible to figure out how someone on Putin's payroll would act differently.
