It doesn't matter your skill level, your genre of choice, the difficulties you play your games at, if you use mods or cheat codes etc. Gamers are Gamers
Back in the day games were made to be fun. Now that “fun” has a price tag it has been capitalised. We have to bring back this narrative that games NEED to be fun so that gamers can be gamers again!
Then what you're playing might not be in your repertoire.
Just because you burn the chicken doesn't mean you can't cook.. it just means you shouldn't cook chicken (until you've taken the time to practice how not to burn it) and can and should try other options.
I don't get the idea of being "good" at videogames. Thats like equating reading speed to literaty knowledge.
Plus, people who consider themselves "good" are mostly that in a singular game, and they therefore have not played many other titles. They are literally not well versed in gaming.
Its just these people who hate on others for being "bad" can rarely tell who Gordon Freeman is, and if so, they dont know shit about games.
I just see my friends and parents avoiding gaming because they dont want to be "bad" at playing them, and I am kinda mad at internet culure for that.
Erm, no, not really. Tha's kind of like the short fat kid is an athelete ragardless of whether they win or not. Trust me, no one loves a fairy when he's over 40 and slowing down.
I tend to play games at the lowest difficulty because I don’t want them to cause me anxiety. Sometimes I want a challenge. Most of the time I just want to play in a virtual space.
Depends what type of player you are. I don’t think I’m bad in single player games, but I play no live service games against other players. No inclination to - but I’m certain I’d be terrible!
Im referring only to single player games. Battle royals and other games that are PvP usually depends on the balance of the game and how well players are. You can be either good or bad or average or just learn the game in time. I’m mostly focusing on single player.
Well I think that is also because they are to scared to fck it up. Personally I didn’t had time to get into ER. But let’s face it, how many years has it been and Skyrim still makes you melt when in the autumn evening you see that into.
You may be right. I’m mostly referring to the mainstream games. I remember discovering Far Cry, I wouldn’t say that was extremely hard game but it was def harder than the 6 one imo. Maybe that because of lack of flexibility in the movement of the character, or just lack of nowadays systems.
... because devs were still figuring out basic game design/balance principles, the games were short if you didn't die a lot, and they were steering away from the rental market in some cases.
I feel the same, but I'm unsure if it's a bad thing. I've gone back and played some older games that were my favorite growing up (Zelda: LttP & OoT) and they definitely were harder for me compared to newer ones in the same franchise (Zelda: BotW & TotK). That said, I enjoyed them all.
It’s absolutely not about not enjoying them! Mostly when you are a fan of something but I’d say it’s more like… it’s still going that way where everything has to be shown, and we are kinda losing the exploration part
Thank you!! I appreciate that. I just finished the main storyline in Zelda/botw and felt like a champion since I usually play farming Sims or side scrollers
Sometimes, and hear me out, I play video games on the easiest setting because I just want to relax and kick ass for 10-20 hours Sometimes I’ll spend 10x that getting a platinum in an Arkane game.
Just enjoy your time with video games however you want. They’re supposed to bring you joy, let them.
Reminds me of when I played softball tournaments. Some teams were pretty bad, but we didn’t mock them. As long as you’re out there competing, you’re a ball player. Respect.
My biggest annoyance is when people shame others for playing on easy mode, like who cares, people have other commitments in life, maybe they don’t have time to master the game like you did
Those who passionately play games they suck at love those games more than tryhards. That's the tea.
A friend of mine had like a ridiculous amount of hours while he was bronze or some shit. He was always having fun and not malding like some asshats in plat or gold.
You should watch me, a gamer, play the Mario Maker 2 100 Man Challenge, no matter how good or bad I do! Tune in tomorrow from 6:30 to 9:30 am on Twitch!
And it doesn't matter the genre! Multiplayer PVP games, singleplayer story, horror, survival, puzzle, sandbox, roguelike, soulslike, simulator games... it doesn't matter! Whatever makes you happy. Personally, I'm more of a singleplayer enjoyer. Never been a PVP player.
Unfortunately it has been proven that the worse you are at videogames, the more likely you are to have self esteem issues and your likelihood of domestic violence increases.
I’ve played video games since the mid 80s, there was never really a conversation about who was or wasn’t good at games. You just huddled round a CRT screen and took turns. In a way I have more respect for someone who enjoys playing even if they’re crap at it.
I just really enjoy a damn good story, books with good stories, movies with good stories and my favorite most interactive medium of story telling Video Games!
If Multiplayer games outside of MMO's which I also enjoy had good stories maybe I'd be interested in them more. Single Player is king.
Thanks! I am consistently bad at games, my friends use me to find out if games have ‘pity’ modes (I’m proud to say I’ve found two) but I still play them!!

I know the feeling.
In the lower budget indie/demi-indie space you get more diversity.
I think this also depends on when you're comparing to. NES games were hard...

Or tabletop role-playing games.
Or board games.
Kind of a broad term.
Everyone is better than me
I'm bad at gaming.
So I also hate to love gaming.

Not all gamers are built the same.
