Looks delicious, and I love the story you made up(?) for the recipe. I have never added bourbon to my pumpkin pie; I like the idea, however... I once added a quarter teaspoon of bourbon to the heavy cream before whipping it, and my daughter the supertaster said it was disgusting :D

Every year I try a new pumpkin pie recipe and this one is hands down the best one I’ve ever tried. I added the bourbon and was glad that it added a nice subtle flavor - didnt over power the pumpkin. Thank you for sharing! I’m adding it to my list recipe book.

If you use a 9-inch pie dish the filling will be slightly too much. This is not a problem, tho, bc it’s delicious and you can just eat the leftover. (A 9.5 inch pie dish is perfect for the filling)

It was a gloomy November day in the early aughts. I was an eager medical student, not yet fully beaten down by the drudgery of memorization and regurgitation. When a new-found friend/classmate suggested baking together, I happily accepted the offer because I loved baking.
