Same. We had loads of job applications recently which were clearly written using AI. Applications for a job in university data where we would easily spot the AI-generated bollocks. If you can’t be bothered writing your job application, I’m not going to bother reading it.

There's a rising sentiment among applicants, particularly those entering the workforce, that if companies are using AI/algos to screen apps, they might as well use AI to write the apps. Turnabout, fair play, etc.

I can see the logic in that. It might be helpful for companies to show AI policy in their job adverts. We don’t use it at all, so muggins here had to trawl through 100+ applications. The AI generated applications didn’t answer questions on specifics very well (too generic) which made it easier.

That makes sense, though it may differ by hiring manager. At my last job, we had an ATS and an underresourced recruiting team like most big companies. Eventually I learned that if I wanted to find good candidates, I was going to need to look at every resume myself.

Now I'm job hunting and just hoping there are other hiring managers like me out there. (If I had gotten a resume that looked like what the resume-coaching cottage industry recommends, I would have thrown it out.)
