if they had something like the minigame island from new leaf, it would've been a 10/10 for me. but since it's not in the game, it'll sit at a humble 9/10.
The gamecube one is my favorite
It’s a pretty cozy game to just forget about everything and relax.
Like there was always shovelware, but even the big names now have problems. I think the only thing recent I know that hasn't fumbled is Mario.
And what about Zelda? BG3? Subnautica?
I know the Breath of the Kingdom games lag ass and generally look ugly, but I guess the actual Zelda-Zelda game does look good.

Hope the tone is coming off as joking because I sincerely enjoyed that game.
You choose where houses and shops go, you can terraform, and you get to place furniture outside that isn't limited to the public works projects.
Thanks for reminding me I need to get back into the game lol
I hoping the main reason they dropped it, was to work on the Switch 2 Launch title animal crossing!!
I love both of these games and want more, all the time! :P
But I love animal crossing to begin with.
I do wish though that it had the club like new leaf did.
My friend just showed me her island and it's the first time I've seen the game in person, it's customization and characters are insanely deep and the content it offers is fun and satisfying.
it's definitely a fun game series as a kid but once i grew up i realized there's about a thousand better ways to spend my time
Also wish a lot of the cool nintendo related furniture made a return too, there is the mario stuff...but that's really it
Also lastly, wish tortimer island made a return, those minigames where fun af and would be amazing with the increased player amount in NH.
I love NH but what stings about it is that for its first year, NH didn't come out of the gate as (subjectively) good and mechanic-rich as it could've potentially been compared to previous entries, especially NL in its finished state.
that said, NH was my first "100% museum" so 🤷🏻
Just because you don't like a game, does not mean it's inherently bad.
There are many games that didn't click with me but I was still able to see the value and polish that others see. (I also love ACNH)
I appreciate the viewpoint.
Second: it doesn't matter. Like imagine Covid without Animal Crossing? Game is so historically important whether it was good or bad isn't even worth entertaining.
To me, the content was not bad, but not much thereof. I felt that at the point where you get to pay back your loan, there isn't much left to do apart from filling the museum.
I Would say: New Leaf and Lets Go to the City
In my opinion new Leaf was the best ac ever
I miss the playable consoles and games in the GameCube version...
It's exhausting...
But for furniture and other content I don't know. Haven't played Pocket Camp for that long. New Horizons do have a lot of furniture too though. And it has good variety of things that can happen on your island.
Yes, but it didn't have all the furniture at launch, even though it's still had 1000s of things, it didn't have everything so 0/10.
But there just wasn’t that spark for me like every other animal crossing
Prob has to do with terraforming being such a big deal and I don’t have the designer brain for that so I ran out of stuff to do SUPER fast
But I still feel it's overall ACness is a step down from New Leaf somehow and I canr put my finger on WHY. Still love it though.
however, as a long time Sims player who will die on the hill that TS2 is top tier and can barely even play TS4 without boredom, I can definitely empathize with the sentiment 😅
The only thing Sims 4 is good at is the casual representation (pronouns, top surgery scars, etc)
that’s a fair point for 4! I’m honestly just bitter that there’s no cars and it feels like my mods break every 3-5 business days 🥲
ngl, I’m mostly just a sucker for Sims 2’s little details 🥹
Honestly, sounds like it's a good game, just not quite as good as people were hoping.
I might be spoiled from New Leaf
I guess I don't have the baggage of comparing it to older games, and that's probably to its benefit.
But we really had nothing to do while in lockdown, so it was just non-stop. 😅
It worked on launch. It had typical Animal Crossing features and then some. It runs just fine. It looks good. It kept getting content updates post launch.
The only way I can think of to call it "bad" is if you got it catastrophically mixed up with Doom
They added so much to it after launch, for free even, and people still seem upset about the game.
I just don't understand it.
It may not be a bad game, but it sure has bad design.
As someone who put 300 hours on it
Like I feel like they made a fine base game and forgot to add way more on top to make it great
Seeing my favorite villagers rant endlessly about collecting eggs daily just made me lose interest in what should be my favorite part about the series.
Though I got very tired of it, after around 80 hours. The whole waiting a physical day to make progress just wasn't it for me after a couple of months.
Plus, there was like nothing to do after 10pm real-time.
For me personally it was everything I needed during the early stages of COVID.
People who think AC:NH is bad just don't get it.
There are things missing, yes, but it's by no means bad. Animal Crossing is kinda hard to not make fun. You just be a silly little guy in AC. It's always enjoyable.
It's still a good game, but the more I play it, the more I just straight up look through the code of the game. They become extremely predictable.
It's not my type of game at all and I still loved it
and that’s fine
I personally prefer new leafs style and structure a bit better BUT- new horizons is infinitely and vastly better in its graphics, creativity and overall feel
In general I think acnh is a mile wide and an inch deep, which depending on what you're looking for, could be great or terrible
In 2020 got a game of the year nomination and won best family game.
people really are committed to being miserable
