Seeing the differences between all the platforms like Bluesky, X, FB, Threads, Mastodon, etc. it’s really wild how much user behaviour / culture is a direct product of design / algorithms
Basically, we’re products of our environments

Still, the platforms often enable it. Thinking about how FB created “pages” for brands, which turned into people complaining about clickbait links and fake news
Bluesky has a similar feature but it lets you to detach yourself from the quote if someone's being a jerk
I’d estimate 5% of the dunks were actually called for and maybe 0.1% of the dunks were good dunks
As another example, Bluesky also lets you create block lists so people can mass-block malicious characters
By far the most abuse on social media happens in DM’s and replies (there’s studies about this). No one would argue to ban replies.
Glad #BlueSky offers an un-tethering feature.
You can see it warp some people in ways they wouldn’t otherwise, others go deeper down rabbit holes or get radicalized, etc.
An out loud affirmation of the limitations of our environment. I wish that felt tangible enough to carry over into more specific demands for platforms 🤔
Obviously if a guy buys and ruins it's different tho***
