"Despite his desire for essentially unilateral authority, he is a spectator to his own presidency the second something goes wrong," says @chrislhayes.bsky.social on Trump's response to the deadly plane crash on the Potomac River.

I won’t be surprised if the truth about the cause of this crash never comes out —It seems naive to believe the NTSB can’t be coerced to support tr*mp’s views, or suppress details he doesn’t like. Recall the Nation Weather Service and sharpie-gate.
He doesn't accept responsibility for anything he does, unless it turns out ok. Otherwise he only takes responsibility for what someone else did. If it goes bad, he blames whoever he can , but it wasn't his fault, just ask anyone who worked for him.
He’s also the Commander in chief of the armed forces who implied without evidence that the soldier/helicopter pilot (conveniently dead) screwed up. Did he reach out to families in, say, the figure skating community to offer condolences. His entire scurvy performance was to cover his ass.
This is off topic, could I ask you to please amplify this message: contact your reps per St. Gael substack message, re: CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS. (St. Gael is a constitutional law scholar) Thank you Chris!
Jan 20th: FAA Director fired (essentially by Elon)
Jan 21st: Air traffic controller hiring frozen.
Jan 22nd: Aviation Security Advisory Committee disbanded.
Jan 28th: Buyout/retirement demand sent to existing employees.
Jan 29th: First American midair collision in 16 years
I watched Trump’s insane press conference this morning. Though he rambled all about he made one thing completely clear to me…per his assessment of the current FAA one would be crazy to get on an airplane and fly anywhere in America.
I heard him tell us FAA is staffed by over stressed, unintelligent, and mentally and psychologically unfit people. I can think of 67 people who wish he had spoken up yesterday.
Who the hell is in charge here. And why isn’t the press pressing the hell out of this. Don’t fly until Trump can assure us he has fixed this problem…that is his and his alone to fix.
Just to be clear…this is mostly sarcasm. But I am disappointed the press lets him say the crazy stuff without digging into its logical conclusion…which in my view is…don’t fly anywhere.
Exactly. Someone else is making decisions and writing Executive Orders and he just signs without regard to how it will impact real people. He’s a puppet with a fragile ego.
He doesn't have normal empathy due to his narcissistic personality sickness. So when he tries to añnounce something, just anything, he has to wax poetic about his racism and misogyny.
The use of terms like "perfect" is evident of that, it's his brain not understanding that things like a flight path....happen, but that's not "perfect"
The man stood on picket lines, but somehow the press sold the idea that he was working class. Trump said all those workers should be fired, and the press said, wow eggs are so expensive!
He's not a spectator. He's too busy blaming others and trying to score points for his agenda to take one fucking tiny bit of responsibility for ANYTHING. EVER.
He's literally a whining child, his entire life, and people see this as LEADERSHIP? What the fuck is WRONG with them?
Not just privatized, but they are already trying to recruit people willing to work for significantly lower wages. So they are searching for the bottom tier of talent.
Such a good point Chris. He only wants to be in charge for the good stuff and the praise. The minute there is a crisis the finger pointing can’t begin fast enough. Recall his infamous quote during the height of the pandemic. “I don’t take responsibility at all.”
No. I will not watch his face. If I can avoid it, I will not listen to his voice. Legacy media needs to show up at the press conferences and news briefings of the loyal opposition and showing those. His face is an abomination.
That's why he had his guys at the press conference all step forward and reaffirm what he had just rambled on about. They were all sitting there together and it reminded me of kids waiting to go into the principals office
Now yelling “tariffs” again to distract. No interest in governing or helping unless he can gain personal advantage. Can’t believe people aren’t holding him to account for cost of
Milair deportations and supporting 30k people in Gitmo. NUTS any way you cut it.

In September, Whitaker had proposed fines of more than $600,000 for SpaceX, prompting Musk to demand his resignation and promise to sue.
Whitaker resigned on 1/20. Trump had no replacement.
Stat!💟🏴☠️☮️
I pray every day that the America that I love wakes up and rejects this abomination of a president.

A plane following a set course even right on the dot is still not "perfect".
Trump is the fucking enemy of America
And if i hear lets blame DEI one more time…
What is the opposite of diversity, equality & inclusion?

Why are we putting up with this shit!
Impeach Trump now

That's a lot of beef to invoke the 25th amendment. He's so unfit for presidency.
If only Republicans care for the country...
p.s. The fancy word “imputability” can stay in reserve for another time
