Ugh. Tax breaks for US big tech, lowering our own standards and selling out our farmers in a desperate bid to maybe, temporarily avoid the orange despot’s tariffs…until he changes his mind and gets cross about something else…
What a godawful brexity mess.

Performative “resist”ing brings massive costs.
Not a difficult sum really!
This is courne out by the economic reality you identify in relation to Trump/Brexit but also his support for the invaded in Ukraine but the villain in Gaza.
We need better and we need it ASAP.
#SayNoToUSUK
5% the only ones benefiting?
There is no austerity v.2, nor are Labour “impoverishing a generation”.
How did you come to any of those conclusions??
The majority benefit from working public services, reduced waiting lists and an NHS not on its knees, not to mention the rising wages
Low tax for the wealthiest in the country AND red lines NEVER to be crossed wrt rejoining EU.
And we are the "unreasonable" ones?
Sickening to see our gvt tip-toeing around this bully. Time to stand up to him - unreliable and devious he can flip anytime and squash underlings.
Starmer will live to regret his attempts at appeasement.
But there are real red lines we shouldn’t cross. Red lines that are much more real than the ones on joining the SM, CU or even EU.
I will not vote Labour if this doesn’t change.
Appeasement only ever ends in disaster.
Keir Starmer bending the knee for Trump🤢.
Withdraw the State visit invitation.
Get us closer with Europe.
Only exceptional inter party cooperation will change this.
Hope seems futile.
They are trying to reduce the impact of a nutter in control of the world’s biggest economy by making minor tweaks.
Should we shout at him and inflict harm on ourselves when any action we take will have so little effect to not be noticeable? 🤦
It wouldnt be that. Brexit and austerity were that. This would be standing up to someone else clearly saying they want to inflict harm on us as well as everyone else.
In a battle of giants, we’re a squirrel.
If you want faux patriotism that harms the country, join reform.
I imagine it would still be Labour’s fault when the economy tanks though?
Joining with the EU will make so little difference as to be unnoticed.
Sticking to plans that made sense under different conditions is insanity.
Economically we can’t compete with the big leagues anymore, but we can compete with smaller countries.
Diplomatically and in terms of military power projection we are still at the top table.
That’s why Starmer’s strategy is to leverage the latter.
We can’t rejoin at present, so it’s not a solution.
You seem to think that we are a major player here, we aren’t.
Trump is using mafia tactics - if he wins 'a bit', he'll come back for more.
This results in a superficial ‘win’ for the US, at the cost to us of a few 10’s of £mil for an additional £400mn in tax
You ordered, Trump delivers
Now we’re just stuck with it.
If Labour executed a wealth tax they could tell Trump, Musk and MetaZuck to fuck off and we'd all be better off all round.

They are not going to leave the market.
If we lower our standards, we just alienate the EU. Why do I get the feeling Labour is not thinking this through? US tarrifs would cost the UK just 1% of GDP (and probably be temporary), while Brext is costing us 4%of GDP.
I'm done with Starmer.
Trump. Is. Not. Normal.
It’s been goodbye Great Britain & hello Little England since 2016.
Genius! Take that Trump!
What's he scared of?
We need closer ties with the EU & tell Trump to bugger off!
Yum!!
We aren’t big enough to make a noticeable impact on the US economy like Canada & the EU.
These are very minor changes
Appeasement of fascists and refusing to boost the economy by rejoining the EU says to me that he's not doing what he is doing for the benefit of most people in the UK.
