If he asked an employee to remove him from the Slack, Automattic pays for, then he can everytime change his mind and orders to undo it.
Unlike all those people who was kicked out / deactivated from Slack beforhand by MM. I doubt that any employee will now activate these accounts.

He didn't quit the main WordPress Slack but the one run by Poststatus, a separate entity, unrelated to Automattic.
(and as a detail, Automattic doesn't pay for the main WordPress Slack, as it is offered for free by Salesforce)

WordPress is pretty easy. I set up a few themes, and it automatically updates the archives, navigation buttons, and links. Back in the day, I did this all in html which was tedious as heck.
