Ohmio Lift is the name of this driverless shuttle bus...
...and Milton Keynes will act as a blueprint for its UK-wide deployment.
Fascinating stuff. π

Asking for MK
"What transport problem does this solve better than anything else already out there?"
...and if no answer springs to mind, you know the answer.
However, how will this system handle fares and safely onboarding/disembarking the disabled?
Or passengers.
And more jobs to pass into oblivion.
it could even have a nice driver to say hello to

Its about us, its shouldnt just be about profit and creating new profit opportunities with new demand!
When my daughters take buses I tell them to sit within sight of the driver. What happens when thereβs no driver? Offenders will target late night & early morning buses.
Isnβt Mike Lynch already on strike?
Creating new ones?
Compare bike rental schemes which are great on paper but usually end up operating at a loss due to idiots.
Driverless general road vehicles always a few years off, like fusion power has been...
.. but bus lanes tend not to be continuous or fully respected.
Like I said, there's places for autonomous vehicles but that's not "generally anywhere".
Unless rail can switch it driverless overnight, the network would be destroyed by strikes if just one driverless train was deployed.
Not interesting, thank you.
Rails should be the way forward, whether that be using traditional trams or AI driven pod cars. Of course, that means more infrastructure. But it would be better in the long term.
All this to help more AI bollocks that maximises shareholder returns and boosts unemployment.
Most greedy corporations just want to bypass safety measures. Not live by them. This isnβt Volvo.
Instead of replacing low end workers AI should be replacing Accountants and Stockbrokers.
Because AI in charge of heavy machinery is *always* a bad idea.
It encourages the idea that AI should oversee heavy machinery (which only a complete idiot believes).
It is ultimately a way for the wealthy to replace humans with software because it boosts Billionaires wealth.
Whose going to use these buses? The humans made redundant by AI in the office? The humans replaced by robots in the factory?
Or the unemployed on their way to a shopping centre where they cannot afford anything?

I did not speak out because I did not use buses
Then AI came for the illustrators, the writers, filmmakers...
This is going to be interesting.
No driver means higher unemployment and a less safe space for the vulnerable (e.g. women and girls)
Good to know Musk has nothing to do with these things &, unlike Musk's brain farts, these do seem to incorporate such cutting-edge features as a bit of ground clearance & windows...
Safe for the public to use? No.
Asking for a sane(?) human being
