Bank branches are disappearing all over the country.
Why is this happening, and do people even miss them?

They are often just customer service centres staffed by people who know very little about banking or any of the services they are meant to provide
My wallet and my passport was stolen from me while I was at a bar.
Of course we miss them. two branches have already gone from my small town, another is due to leave. That leaves 2.
Granted they may run some of those but not all.
They don't seem to be bothered that it leaves communities out in the cold.

Economic downturns of the nasty kind look set to be locked in while nothing is done about it. That hoarding of resources such as money itself. It's bad news for everyone.

When I was temporarily mute, someone opened some accounts in my name. I needed to physically visit the banks in order to be able to explain the situation.

They have recently opened a banking hub for face to face conversations.
Referring everyone to Post Office branches only works if they stay open. Ours seem to be under constant threat of closure.
Did it in the Post Office around the corner. Easier than the bank!
In the 80's and 90's they threw up all these multi storey glass bank palaces and now we have to walk miles to see one human being who can advise us on our pittance face to face.
Now that everything is computerised the glass palaces are probably empty.
When my banking app goes bananas and won't let me pay cheques in (yes, people do still use them for business) I have to close up and trek off 12 miles to bank the bugger!
But we do need to ensure there is accessible banking for everyone.
Could people's needs be met by a desk at a supermarket with a clerk and a terminal, or something similar?
No counter service on Saturdays is a real spit in the face for working people, though.
Certainly not where I live (the county town), or the town next to it, or the one on the other side.
Me included. I detest online banking.
Take care.
However, I appreciate that is not true for everyone.
I even have the name, ready to go, we can call it ‘The Post Office’.
At a bank I just dump them into a coin sorter then just queue with a piece of paper.
One per town.
Can't remember the last time I needed to go into a branch.
Except the apps are often flawed and don’t work.
Building societies = socialism, in your town, who's left keeping their branch open for you?? Is it nationwide? The buildingsociety?
