Starmer fans are saying "it's early days, give the man a break".
But you have to start as you mean to go on. Unless good housing/NHS/schools etc plans begin now, it'll be too late in 2029. Every signal we're getting is that he has no intention of launching them.
There are no breaks in politics.

1. The implicit deal behind Starmerism was this: you might not like what he stands for (or fails to stand for), but at least he knows how to win elections. If you want the Tories out, he’s your only hope.
But now? It’s as if he’s going out of his way to lose in 2029. 🧵

If Labour go on like this, we’ll have Reform government in 2029.
Not to mention privatising railways, and workers rights
But you’re absolutely right - leave it too long and they won’t get the impact they need with the electorate in five years’ time.
But it is a big catch and a self imposed straight jacket.
For the government to deliver on those social programs it needs a lot more cash.
This means a broader tax base and a return to EU single markets, and both these points have been excluded from the Labour manifesto.
And it seems to be.
Labour received fewer votes in 2024 than they did in 2019, and the lowest vote share of a winning party since WWII.
He's being over, not underestimated.
If Starmer’s Labour intends to challenge Reform UK, it’s time to adopt a radical left programme. Balancing the books is meaningless if you’re ousted after one term. Labour must craft a message that decisively defeats Trumpism and all it represents.
No
Public will be angry about this, they're already ruening to RefUK in large numbers: this is how centrists enable fascism.
I so wanted Starmer to be the better politician. He’s not. There’s no change. It’s all jam tomorrow and we need to put things right now. Miserable politics.
1. Brexit is sacred
2. Immigration is evil
Which leaves him very little room to manoeuvre.
He has to learn to lead a country; rather than being a spineless coward grovelling to the worst people in the nation.
