Me and my dad were saying that it's just a lose lose for Jake in general for boxing fans. All his fights are just stunts for HIS fans in specific.
Also Serrano was 1000% robbed of win. More annoyed with that fight & outcome than the Paul v Tyson honestly.
Agreed, and so are they. They all get rich off of us hoping to see the worst person we know get his head blown off. I say we push to put him in the ring with a real, current fighter, or just ignore the clown.
People watch his fights because they think it will be entertaining. He is great at giving the audiences what they think they want. Even when it really isn’t that entertaining in the end.
I remember someone asking (on a podcast/YouTube short) a lifelong boxing analyst if he was, in the expert's opinion, a good boxer.
The expert said, "I think he'd be a good bouncer". And that has stuck with me ever since.
We need a scrappy underdog of comparable age who’s had the same amount of time to train and Jake should have to get tested for enhancements. He’d never agree to it.
Your right but to be honest we need someone he fights to beat him into retirement. Issue is that with each fight he becomes bolder and he is not likely to stop fighting until he loses bad!
I don't think its like Mayweathers. But I think Tyson did well for a man his age. One of the comments I've heard from Jake's trainers was that they said Tyson is an Old Lion. Yet this old lion gave beatings to Jake.
I'll go out on a limb here and say that two or three times in the early rounds Tyson had the opportunity to move in and lay Paul out. You could see him moving in then checked himself to let Paul regroup.
Were there clauses that relied on fight length to equal pay day?
Yea I keep telling people from day 1, Paul isn't seriously trying to become a real boxer, he nor Logan are signing up for a fight to get knocked out but at least Logan fought Mayweather
Tommy Fury was the only real fight he had and he lost.
America loves a spectacle, they would rather watch a brash young man versus a once great old man, than to watch 2 very skilled fighters in their prime. Shakur vs. Haney...
Put him up a halfway decent fighter and he gets killed. All of his fights are fake. Nobody gets paid if he gets KO’d. Watch Tyson train and compare it to the fight.
Exactly! Bunch of my friends were wondering who was gonna win last night and I'm sitting there being like, "How have y'all not realized this is just a glorified advertisement yet?"
Jake Paul’s rise isn’t about talent, it’s about spectacle. He built a YouTube following, pulled in endorsements, and kept finding ways to hold attention. Now he’s transferred his shtick to the boxing ring, fighting over-the-hill boxers with health issues to pad his “record.”
It’s not about skill; it’s exhibition entertainment disguised as sport. People are eating it up, but it’s sad, really. Just another gimmick riding the hype train. I’m not buying the ticket.
He won’t fight against anyone decent who is in their prime. Tommy Fury really, Mike Tyson a legend 30 years ago who is next Frank Bruno. The guys a 🤡 a very rich 🤡 money doesn’t get you respect
Honestly I kept my expectations low as can be for the main fight. But I was interested in what the undercards were going to do with the opportunity. And they didn't disappoint, imo. Especially Barrio vs Ramos. The undercards stole the show.
Tyson held back beating the snot out of this kid 'cause if Mike would have won Iron Mike wouldn't have got paid the big $$$
In other words the fix was in
We know that but hope just once he’ll get absolutely rocked… honestly the Tyson fight was the first & probably last one I’ll watch. Just catch the highlights. 🤣
If Jake Paul truly is the real deal, I want to see him take down Usyk right here right now. If he beats that level of fighter (who’s actually still fighting professionally), then I’ll give Paul his due.
Considering that when he fought people the same age as him and with experience, aka Tommy Fury, he lost, he's not even on an Amateur level, let alone going Pro.
It was quite the spectacle, though. Have read reports of streaming problems. None here. I thought the Netflix production was 1st class. I liked the ring number on the ring posts. The commentators were very good. The Barrios-Ramos fight was one of the best all year.
I don't know how people missed this, I was mixed on the election but I was fairly sure Paul would win over Tyson.
All the people who complain about female leads in action movies need to learn that Mike from Breaking Bad taking out 3 guys in their 20's to 30's is also unrealistic
People, this is fantasy, you can't be in your 60s fighting off a bunch of much younger men.
People don't see it because it's so normalized, and there isn't an anti-old people group complaining about how it's unrealistic.
I'm still astounded at people who became Paul brothers' fans after they conversion into fighters and think they are legit. I understand if you weren't into YouTube drama 7 years ago then you won't know, but a little search will come up with their very well documented douchbaggery.
Yeah, that's not going to happen anytime soon. His fan base, whether we like it or not, is in the millions—actually, probably in the hundreds of millions by now. I'm no fan of his, nor do I dislike him. I'm sure he’ll get put on his arse at some point, but his influence is growing.
The only good thing that might come out of it is re-igniting an interest in boxing. If even a few people watched some old footage of Tyson in his prime, or got interested in it because of the decent undercard fights, it’s not a terrible thing. I’ve gotten pretty tired of MMA.
Respect to Jake for the business model. He’s getting the legends paid on their way out. He knows he wouldn’t be able to handle Mike without oversized gloves. Cool exhibition, not a real fight.
It’s a smart move to be fair. And it’s the reason why he’s doing boxing and not MMA. Boxing federations are so greedy that they’ll allow anything as long as they can get their cut.
It was a lose/lose fight for him. He won, so he beat a 58 year old retired boxer. If he would've lost the story would be he, lost to a 58 year old retired boxer. Doesn't look good on him either way.
America rewards charlatans and grifters. I missed the boat on that one, my dad was an immigrant and taught me playing by the rules and hard work was the way. He bought into the grift

The only way guys like him and other influencers stop is if we stop entertaining them.
I gladly avoided watching any of the fight and never will watch any of the fights he takes part in.

I would struggle to be less interested whether he won, lost or didn't fight at all and went back to 'influencing'.
Although I think he maybe peaked here...

Put him up against a modern champ and he’d fold
Or in a fight he’s not setting up
(40/20)
20 year old : Jake Paul is the greatest boxer ever!
And Foreman...sure and dig up...HAHAHAHAAA
In other words the fix was in
American culture is now whatever this is. They’ll be back to the well next time
He's still a YouTuber, so gimmick bullshit will always be his forte.
This is why we'll never see him fight an actual competitive boxer. He'd get rocked by any big names still in fighting shape.
Doesn’t mean he’s not on them, those of old enough remember how good BALCO was for years before they got found out.

The Jake also takes an L if he is taking steroids as well
Having had a duodenal ulcer myself, absolutely no way I was recovered within 4 months !
That fight, IF it had to take place, needed postponing for a year !
the disrespect of it all feels extra gross
Muhammad Ali!
What...
Too soon?
Hopefully one of those old timers just may BEAT THE HOLY HELL out of him, and we get to watch!!!😉
We also wanted to see Mike catch him with that shot.
