It is honestly ludicrous how much New York Shit has now become everyone's problem.
The president (convicted felon, corrupt) strong arming mayor (indicted on felony corruption) into carrying out his immigration cruelty via DOJ quid pro quo worse than Watergate.
Democratic primary is in months.

She has power to fire mayor.
Cuomo undeclared but leads dem mayor primary polls.
Chaos.
Instead, they are mad at their voters for expecting ... anything.
It is also threatening AOC (the only federal elected who seems to understand being a public servant consists of more than just committee and floor votes) over immigration
New Yorkers, who apparently hate themselves en masse, seem willing to do this.
Meanwhile, 12 organic eggs? $17
Organic cage free are like $24. Factory farm conventionals are $17.
We are already in hell, but please ping me if bodegas start seeing oeuf loosies. Seems like an important economic indicator.
And yes, we could have had Maya Wiley, who has not been indicted for anything.
NYC could’ve had Maya Wiley but they voted for the cop instead.
New York voters: SHUT UP I AM NEXT IN LINE FOR A KISS FROM DADDEEEEEEEEEEEEEY
But if fired after 26th, Williams stays until Jan 2026 and elections go on as planned.
Literally every mayor of New York except for Dinkins.
Speaking as a 3rd generation NYer: our fatal flaw is we mistake aggression for deserved confidence (because so many of us have both).
They've grifted just like Trump, but not as overt.
Let's not forget Trump wanted to be one of them, but wasn't elitist enough to break through.
MAGA started as his act of revenge.
Democrats need their own Tea Party moment.
The money never stopped rolling.
It consolidated his votes while ppl who wanted sanity and competence were split between 2-3-4 other candidates. So how do we ensure that it doesn’t give us Adams again?
It was the first time a local primary took place in June
The primary took place in late June after many people left the city
Most local reporting was nonexistent
People were exhausted from Covid
People were exhausted from 2020 election
Voters will default to the devil they know or stay home.
And ranked choice actually gained some progressives many more votes than they ever got in previous “choose only one” elections. Give it time and some non-pandemic-epicenter years, and it’ll work even better for progressives.
RCV did not lead to Adams; people's preferences did, fueled by crime fears
Probably also exacerbated by general pandemic anxiety and general brain weasels brought on by how totally batshit 2020 was for everybody.
It was not great 🙃
A lot of it felt like 2020 backlash
There needs to be a campaign to not-split the anti Adams vote in the primary. Period.
But, AOC? Hope hope hoping NYers learn the lesson -- "centrist" Dems are for shit -- and lead us into a better direction with the next mayor. 📿
