First system was a Super Nintendo when I was 4, and I was hooked right away loved video games as a whole. But the first time I felt an emotional connection to a game was Final Fantasy X.
So good mate I remember finally completing st Francis folly back in the 90s after escaping from all those rooms and being so pleased I completed that level a memorable level
If we are talking console, my first game love came really late.
Like really really late. I loved Journey.
Never before have I been so immersed in delight like with Journey. Possibly FF, but Journey is just 💕
As for PC, FFVII and Diablo is up there, can't quite decide which caught my heart more.
It was close between Earthbound and Chrono Trigger, but Lufia 2 was a truly special game for me (especially not having access to the first game and not knowing the gut-punch waiting for me lol)
It has to be Super Mario World. I could play that game for hours, and then replay it again as I try to beat it even faster. I spent a few days trying to speed run to Bowser and got very good at it. I'd love to see a master speed run, though.
The first video game I truly loved was Super Mario Bros. 3. I got it for Christmas when I was 10, already loved the first two. I remember opening it—wow, that bright yellow box—I couldn’t believe it was mine. That feeling? I can still summon it. Also was so hyped after seeing it in The Wizard movie.
I made legos of dragon quest iv and re-enacted the plot and elseworlds of the plot repeatedly for years on my living room floor if that says anything about dragon quest iv. well, warrior iv back then
The Long Dark 🤗 it's like my drug. No game has ever given me such peace & mental healing. I'm sure I loved games through out my life but it's the game I turn to when I want to unwind, relax & escape. Brings back my zen state of mind when the world tries to take it away🥰
Lode Runner was so good. I used to love making my own levels. My brother and I would be able to play at the same time on one keyboard, trying to outdo each other.
Probably Tekken 3 or Worms on the gamecube. I didnt play fighting games again until 2021 I was mostly a shooter player for most of my teens then got back into fightin games with GG Strive and came full circle to playing Tekken again when 8 released. Now glad to be part of the FGC.🫡
Was enraptured by the early game demo build I had from some magazine. I already liked games at that point but they were more like a curiosity or a toy to me and preps1 games were my family's not mine. 1st game I had to go looking for to b able to find and purchase.I was hooked
Ooooo maybe Space Harriers or Gauntlet if we're talking arcade - possibly Uridium on the Spectrum, or Daley Thompsons Decathlon. Maybe Hampstead - text adventure game.
The first one I really have memories of LOVING instead of just enjoying would be Tomb Raider on the PS1. Something about this lady being a badass doing flips and going on adventures around the world really drove it home with my kid self.
A German CRPG from '92 called Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny. 💜 I dearly loved this game and the sandbox adventures I had in it, and my parents were just as much fans of it so it was a shared experience for us. We even mapped out every town and village on graph paper.
Thrasher: Skate & Destroy for PS1. I used to turn it on free play and turn the TV volume up just to hear the soundtrack. And the gameplay was more realistic than Tony Hawk games. It was so good.
It's a toss up between MYST and 7th Guest. Those were the two games my mom and I played a lot together.
Those are definitely memories I will always have of her. She was an OG gamer. She bought every Atari console that came out and played those games until she passed away.
I'm old enough that it's hard to say. Really dug Choplifter on the VIC-20 and Warlords on the 2600. But if I'm being honest, it was this gem on the original Mac
It was my first favourite arcade game, probably spent half my pocket money on it! The thrill of getting your three initials on the top 10 list at the end. Over 40 years ago but remember it so well.
it was my first favorite game and it continued being my favorite game until shortly after adulthood. I've changed a number of times since then, and it's not my favorite mario game anymore either, but it holds up way better than mfs say it does
I liked a lot of games before it, from way back to silpheed in 88 with an ancient flight stick to Super Mario & Sonic to Wolfenstein & Doom, but Portal was made for me, just for me.
That's a tough one. I loved my Pacman....for super Nintendo it had to be Super Punch Out, for Sega...Micky's Magical Quest. But there's still so many not listed here. 🥲

I would play it for hours on school holidays...!!
I still love playing the PS1 version 😊

I was just a wee lad with an Ice Punching Feraligatr and a dream: to beat the Elite Four!
Lmao, I still credit the Pokémon games for being how I learned how to read 🤣
Absolute Masterpiece! 🤩

Fond memories of playing it at a pizza joint my entire extended family went to growing up.

Can't even explain it. I played it more than it's logical...
I can never thank enough Michael Kosaka and Chuck Sommerville... 🫡
First paycheck from Cub Foods.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always adored Pokemon and grew up on the OG Tony Hawk games.
But BGDA encapsulates so much of my personality, has coop and “NG+” that I got over the limited builds and story progression.
It’s also a lot easier to go back and play vs PokemonRB/Y
Used to play it a ton with friends, and I have a lot of fond memories from those days.
Space Quest III in all its CGA glory. I can still hear the triumphant opening theme bleeping in PC speaker.

My first true love was Kingdom Hearts.
It will forever occupy a space in my heart.
