The only way I think we can recover is not to aim to restore the gov that was, but to build the state we've always wanted.

4 million federal workers, large white collar crime divisions, workers tackling everything from building housing to speeding up immigration processes.

Think it largely depends on how much turnover we see next spring.

Far too many current office holders are not getting the message.

I expect many of them will say "we're focused on the future".

You don't charge folks & we do this over and over again until the heat death of the universe.

It really depends on the on the nature of the win. A Biden-style “ordinary” victory means a long road to recovery. A historic loss for the GOP would go a long way to restoring confidence.

No one is going to make any long term plans based on the Dems winning a couple of elections. No countries will trade with us, no one will work for the government, etc. Could all be swept away by the next election.

Given the refusal of Democratic leadership to act with their limited legislative power or large bully pulpit power, I fear they may not present a powerful vision of betterment to entice non voters to the polls.

Which if so I hope we focus first and foremost on global warming, even if we have to guillotine the rich to make them accept regulation.

Make sure there’s a society at all, before we spend a lot of energy organizing it.
