Yup. I suspect a lot of the exodus *now* is because people decided *long ago* that X sucked, but they stuck around because they thought being there was useful for the elections. Fighting propaganda, not ceding ground, etc, etc. Turned out that didn't work so they finally bailed.

Some people cannot comprehend that the exodus from X is not 'liberal flight' but a lot of people deciding that the content on the platform - hate/extremism, disinformation, violent/nsfw content, low quality ads, lax responses to user reports, suppression of content - just can't be ignored any more.

For me the exodus was because a critical mass of folks I care to follow were also leaving. Mostly due to the reasons you cite, but the critical mass is important, I think.
One thing about the Network Effect, it either fizzles out or grows explosively. Going to get interesting!
Since then, every other platform has followed.
abuse has been too horrific, people wishing me to drop dead sooner (I have brain cancer) or wishing me a painful death. Yeah, it was time to leave. Which makes me had because I did like my little community there, but…
