just learned that if your microsoft account gets compromised and you hit the “sign me out of everywhere” button, you get this pop up telling you it’ll take 24 hours (???)

Nothing works.
A dozen issues arise with nearly every task you attempt.
I switched to Apple and never looked back.
makes me feel sad for the rest

Same with threads
They have the profits to prove it.
PS:
Do not forget that data can be stored on many redundant servers worldwide. Both on Microsoft servers, but also other vendors who use your Microsoft account credentials to log you into their systems.
Relax.
As far as I could find online all of Microsoft’s own services set the max validity to 1hr, so you should be fine after that. The 24hr number is just the maximum an app that use Microsoft sign in could ask for.
everybody does it like them
I have no clue why Microsoft even allows the attempt at that point bc its clear its an issue. Got a few emails w codes too. No clue how to stop it
I feel I had this experience a few years ago. Don’t want to exaggerate but it feels accurate.
Set a new password first, then sign out of all sessions, then check OWA for email rules...
Also, to do this, you *must* have an alt non-MS account which they send the code.
Buy an email service. Free isn't free.
That’s why we pay them
It's not like the whole world is incompetent just because you have no idea about how things work
Like... how?! Is their suspicious activity detection really bad? Do they store passwords in plain text which helps them leak?
I deleted my Microsoft account because it was bombarded by login attempts (mostly from usual suspects Russia, India, China).
Funnily enough they don't let you easily report that.
Problem is that we've constantly taken things that work, and endlessly complicated them, while not actually fixing the problems that we used to have.
For instance, needing to sign up for a MS cloud account so that you can install Windows on your personal PC.
Thankfully my password is secure and has the authenticator passcode.
Like a creepy stalker or some such sh*t
company that is abandoning millions of Windows 10 users in just a few months.
Who needs to worry about security when there are so many opportunities to stuff AI chatbots into so many products?
Even Santa takes quite a few hours
It takes time
Be patient
Thanks Marcosoft.
MS Access USED to be good. USED.
Correct and as they can’t know if you use tokens, they give this message just in case.
Factory reset takes literally 10-15min.
Maybe start shopping for tech with us little computer shops.
Yeah, you might pay a few notes more, but the service level of local businesses is way better than the multi billion dollar corporations.
Private and Business and you can use the SAME email address as account-name. So now I am mixed up and MS is mixed up. You cannot delete one account so you never know what account you are using at any time. Unworkable.
The iCloud account I don't remember having has been sending final notice emails for months
Far more secure and you are in control.
If it’s a bit techie for you, we’re all here to help
