Somewhere out there a Netflix executive has pitched a whole origin series about the history of this car that leads right to this moment in the final episode.
I just learned that the car was originally colored red, but they decided that it drew attention away from the red of the cape, so it was changed to green for the final print run.
The original color plate went up for auction with red ink still visible.
I always thought he's saving someone in that picture. I recently started reading classic Superman, and I learned those people running are his victims. He's destroying the car of the bad guys and the bad guys are fleeing from this terrifying figure. He was a menace back then.
It's Clark Kent's car. Clearly, they know each other and there's some ill feeling between them. It's probably due to Clark's terrible impression of Supes in the Metropolis Superman Lookalike Contest. I hear he came in 4th place.

It's just common sense.

Batman hates boats.
Does Wonder Woman hate planes?
Is that why her jet is invisible? She's willing to use it, but can't stand the sight of it?
MORE cars!
