Every social network had an algorithm that was designed to show you what *they* wanted. Bluesky let us decide the algorithm we wanted. That's innovation.
Other networks realized they looked like shit and would/were lose/ing users. Now they're trying to compete. That's capitalism.
A decade late and a dollar short Zuck, we know where your attention lies and it is not with us, its with your control and your bottom line. FB has become unusable, very user unfriendly and a cesspool of ads and scams.
That works but hilariously eliminates the right hand column, which contains not only the chat feed but also birthdays. "Now you can follow your friends but NOT well wish them or check in with them!" Social media design brought to you by antisocial weirdos.
"Interested to see how and if people use this [compared to the alternative, which has been openly criticized across all my platforms for the past decade]"
Usually, Meta just buys whatever business starts to grow quickly. This time, they built Threads and proved they were clueless about what people want from social media.
I always knew this would happen one day. My Gran used to say that what goes around, comes around. This man, for all his riches, lacks even the most basic emotional intelligence that would have enabled him to see Meta's failure coming 1/3
By the end of March 2025 my account will have been closed as the platform slowly but surely sinks. His profiteering, abuse of trust, and contempt for ordinary people, as well as his values of libertarian self-interest have caught up with him. I for one will not weep for him. 3/3
One thing that I absolutely cannot *stand* with FB and *especially* Insta, is the inability to just *see what the people I follow/am friends with* post *in the order they post it*. Drives me nuts every time I actually *want* to see something on Instagram
I didn't even get through the signup phase when I had the same epiphany. On Facebook and Instagram, both, the best way to never see posts from people you like is to follow them in the first place.
The utter CRAP they’ve been serving me is making me using their products less and less, I don’t know what they are even thinking trying to divert people away from what they care about.
I hope BlueSky holds out from the horrible capitalists who will come forward and throw a billion dollars to buy it. Only to turn it into a propaganda machine.
Does that finally mean that my feed on Facebook will *actually* be useful again? Because all I get is a whole bunch of useless crap I'm not subscribed to or have zero interest in. Guess I'll believe it when I see it. For now though FB Purity is staying installed, along with UBlock Origin.
I never used Threads so like, was it *that* hard to just see posts by folks you follow? It seems so simple but from what I keep hearing all it does it show you random stuff in a nonchronological order?
Hey, Mark…we’re tired of your algorithm. Why don’t you go fix whatever the hell you did to Instagram and Facebook first? You search one thing on Instagram and BOOM your whole feed becomes “exercises for anterior pelvic tilt” (just for example lol). Facebook is an endless reel of ad after ad.
genuinely really great that Bluesky is forcing Zuck & co to make actual improvements to their POS platforms because they’re realizing that for the first time they could lose their monopoly to a 20-employee startup
Reading the new TermsOfService for META and the passing around of data and reuse ( some AI training vibes ). So I am pretty much ending 20 years over there on FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM . downloading the data now then deleting.

Late to the game as usual, Zuck.
That, in and of itself, is enough reason to steer clear of it.
Could have been a leader, now he's trying to play catch-up!
So sad to see!
FB - deactivated
Instagram - Zero Action
Threads - Never had it, never will
I’d rather give money BlueSky verification or Subscription.
This app is so much better 😂
If it's bad enough to notice without examining the code, then it's really bad.

Never going back to Facebook!!!
Ditch their products and make them realize are NOT going to take it anymore.
Zuck has never been an innovator. He's been an intellectual thief from the first days of FB.
Too little, too late, Mark.
And the thing is we USED to until they started catering to creators instead of users.
Imagine what twitter would be right now if Mosseri and zuck had listened to all the twitter expats a year ago…..
