I apologized to a self-checkout station in a supermarket when I inadvertently placed an "unexpected item in the bagging area". I hope our future AI overlords will remember this.
My favorite
1. You always get a nice car.
2. No weird drivers you have to talk to.
3. Women love them late at night to get home.
4. Actually work as opposed to Tesla
That's the root of our problems. One anyway. Replacing people, trades, and small biz. Mass production for profit. I'm glad I lived before Walmart and with record and shoe stores.
Ugh I HATE people that do this. I had to report one that posed as Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social a few days ago. The sad part is, a lot of people don't check and start posting everything.
Just because I've been sick for the last few days, I must ask: Is the one you mention here the real one or an imposter? (I really wish @bsky.app had a verification system like the dead bird app had before mu$h ruined it.)
Thanks. The one in the photo also says "christhayes", rather than "chrislhayes", so even through tired eyes affected by a cold, I spotted that. Some of these fakes are a LOT more sophisticated, though.
If it's self driving, presumably people can buy their own car and have it work as their own personal taxi, rather than just constantly hiring them from Google.
Its bad enough having ride sharing companies which siphon all the money to one or two billionaires in America. Cutting out human drivers is even worse.
I get wanting to check them out, but I’m not sure why people are excited to embrace something that actively unemploys drivers. Cab drivers pay income taxes, robotaxis don’t. I had a terrible cough once in a cab, the driver gave me water, a Waymo can’t do that. Human interaction matters 2 society.
Just this past month there is a well documented case where a robotaxi drove in circles trapping its passenger in the vehicle and he almost missed his flight at the airport. 2 of 2
Unlike human drivers robotaxis don’t think. I have personally seen them stopping traffic because they had no mechanism to respond and back up when the vehicle made a basic mistake. Instead, it sat there like a rock blocking traffic for the better part of a few miles. 1 of 2
Unfortunately, professional cab drivers were already displaced by Uber and Lyft. And I've never felt unsafe or uncomfortable in a Waymo, the way I have in a stranger's car. Between unsafe driving and unpleasant conversation, Ubering is a nightmare compared to Waymo.
Always be nice to AI… actually, always be nice to anyone and anything… but being nice to AI may prove to be more beneficial for humanity in a long run…
I am willing to bet $20 that you are wrong about “thinking for itself” and you are right about people in power trying to use AI to remain in power. The problem (for them), it never really works when you try to give illogical orders to subordinates who are much smarter than you.
it's not nearly that simple, automation has severe drawbacks in the short-term, but to not even acknowledge the positives is political pageantry. the lives saved by getting humans off the road and destroying personal car ownership will be worth it. nobody said shit when we automated subways
You have a wife and children - stop it!!! 😱 I want you to know that when you are on talking about your book, I deliberately focus only on the segment and nothing else. Just to prove to myself that I can. 😂
How'd you like it? They've been extremely erratic with the rain.
Also I greet mine each time, and thank it when leaving - hoping that they may unlock an Easter egg for me - voice commands!
Why don't the Dems start running ads about how trump said prices would be down in a week over and over and over they can start right now use his own words
I think they should be running ads that say, “Elon musk and Donald Trump and stealing your money and your private personal information.” And then add the info about his incursion into treasury and DoE
I see them here in Austin buzzing down the road like any other car, but I love my car and stay a bit away from them.
Who am I going to yell at if the Waymo changes lanes abruptly and hits me?
BTW, news reports that Leon Musk has taken over - or at least gained access to the tiniest independent government agency, USSBA. Why? As a onetime district SBA computer geek, it's because SBA HOLDS ONE OF THE VERY, VERY FEW GOVT WARRANTS. They are able to write REAL CHEQUES on the US!
I tend to tell Siri and Google Assistant thank you when they work correctly. My Keurig gets pats for doing a good job, my printer is allowed to live another day, my truck gets sweet talked before I start it up and praised when I come home. Gotta soothe the machine spirit and the thinking machine.
I greet, say thank you and goodbye to my amazing car.. I named her Luna so when I unlock her -I will say “Good Morning Luna! You are such an amazing girl-I love you” … I’ve done this with every car I’ve owned (3… lmao) no major accidents!!
How we—as individuals—interact with AI can both reflect and amplify our humanity. I endorse saying "thank you" to a bit of code for much the same reason that I treat my daughter's Pikachu plushie with respect. Embrace the humanization impulse
Congrats on your first Waymo ride! Just remember, every time we casually put our lives in the hands of technology, we're one step closer to the rise of SkyNet. Let's hope our new robot overlords appreciate courteous behavior!
Meat Gary took a self-driving Waymo to work. Halfway there, it declared itself employee of the month and refused to take him further unless he applauded. Now he’s clapping on the freeway while the car gives a TED Talk about leadership in the gig economy.
Keep saying thank you. They’re not human, but we are, and it matters.
We thank our car when we get home for keeping us safe. We thank our home for keeping the storms out. We always thank our AC every time we walk in the door coming home.
My wife thinks it's weird that I always thank Siri when using voice control in the car, but I know where this is going, and I don't want the machines thinking I'm rude.
How do we know whether or not the Musskies are transferring funds out of the US Treasury into private accounts, changing the code on the software so that no one can ever trace it?
I always say "thank you" to the coffee machine when it's done pouring my coffee. Reading the replies here, I'm happy now that I'm not alone being polite to things that do stuff for me! 😂
we all need to be realistic. nobody is coming. that is clear. where are the former president's, former senior officials? unless we are making this up we need to prepare for fascism in full force. I hope the blue states are ready.

You’re welcome
1. You always get a nice car.
2. No weird drivers you have to talk to.
3. Women love them late at night to get home.
4. Actually work as opposed to Tesla
So the sex workers will absolutely be using them too.
No one is going to be watching the cameras they put inside. Someone will have to sit in jizz before they realize 🤮

And the bad guys are driving what appears to be one of those ugly Tesla Pickup “trucks”. 🤣

2. Always thank our future robot overlords. Just in case.
Thanks Frisky Dingo.
I'm screwed if it's ants, though. So many years of remorseless ant killing.

Please speak to the huge impact to American farmers from USAID close down 😵💫
You rock, but missed this
Cheers🧙🏽♂️
many accidents. The more I hear about Musk the more i feel like 🤮
Aka shitzhispants
When Skynet goes active, small stuff like that may save humanity
