For me it was apples. I sliced off the very tip of my left ring finger. Only went to the ER because I couldn’t get the bleeding stopped. They have adrenaline +lidocaine shots that work wonders.
Feeling your pain. Mine was an avocado ‘incident’ taking out the pip. Several hours waiting in Emergency for stitches in the palm of my hand after the knife slipped.
I did this attempting to open a DVD about 15 years ago. Kmart hadn't removed the anti-theft device, and I thought I'd give it a go with various knives and scissors I found around the unit. Five hours in RPA later...
I slice with a steak knife, works good enough and much harder to cut deep. You can even use a serrated blade and saw through them instead of like CHOP CHOP OMG. Also fits in the dishwasher better.
Sounds like the day I severed a nerve in my hand with a bamboo skewer. I however, blamed the grandchildren. I was trying to make an icypole with a frozen banana 🙄 ps hope you’re ok.
Don’t worry, it happens. I was making mushroom soup and I sort of blended my hand while removing the attachment on my stick blender. Neighbours had to drive me to the hospital. All good, 9 stitches later and I finished making the soup when I got home (sans blending!!)
Ask me about mandolins and my now infamous "kim(fing)chi". Yes I was using the finger guard. Yes I was taking care. No I will never use this evil contraption ever again.
In case it makes you feel better, my spouse sliced his finger while chopping spinach, but he faints at the sight of blood. Passed out in the urgent care parking lot, got a concussion and cyclical amnesia. Took awhile for anyone to deal with the finger, with all the face blood, confusion, and whatnot
That thought went through my head a few weeks back so I left...next day pain was getting worse, so went back in and waited....had broken my arm. Best to stay put....
when I lost a filling once, my dentist told me something along the lines of "I get more work from people chewing on raw nuts than roasted because of the unexpected and uneven pressures chewing the raw kind need at times"
Ah the memories. You overlooked the important information the internet needs, what were you cooking ? Mine was during Chili con Carne, and lasagne, and french onion soup. Did my thumb on lasagne and beef casserole as well. Still have all 10, with a few scars and reminders of good times.
Yow. I was a moron who, late one night, used my pocket knife instead of my usual side-cutters to cut cable-ties, because I couldn't remember where I'd put the cutters, & managed to cut a finger nearly to the bone, cutting an artery & a nerve. Got stitched up at the ER, then later microsurgery.
I feel your pain
After finally getting home from travels during covid with a box of non perishable food I sliced my thumb on a rough tin lid.
Sought out my other half with it rapped in a tea towel saying it's ugly I can't look at it, you have to.
The nurses gathered, heard it was ugly😱😂

Sorry I couldn't resist...
Sorry to hear it
❤️🩹
On the positive side I’ve seen your post from 39minutes ago now!

Last time I was in the waiting room, it was for my husband who dropped a chainsaw on his toe.
A running chainsaw.
Feel better soon!
I do that so often.
It must be serious.
I usually get away with a band-aid.
Green onions!
Thanks for the warning, I reckon I might have not stopped in time otherwise!
Nurse: You are ninth in the queue. You will be waiting… a little while…
I then bought a much sharper knife which might not have been entirely wise, now that I think about it...
Unlike using a mandolin slicer without a safety guard. Definitely not recommended.
I hope you’re not in too much pain and you’re seen very soon.
I have the scars prove that it's a bad idea. lol
Damned onions!
