The https://chess.com year in review was basically entirely useless. It essentially told me that I played a lot of chess this year, which no shit. Anyone with a chess app on their phone would.
Even just telling me >my< most frequent opening would've been cool! It would've been interesting to know how often I'm able to follow through with the Queen's Gambit, which is my preferred opening as white, and how often I end up switching to something else for example. But we get nothing like that.
Absolutely! We’re definitely need these details next year. Cause this one feels like ‘oh everyone is doing that, let’s do it ourselves’ rather than ‘let’s make something cool and unique’
When I first noticed that apps I use were doing this it was a good reminder of how much private data they collect.
Data which isn't at all needed in order to deliver the services they actually provide. It's like a dark bonus.
"Congrats, we made this fun thing with the privacy we stole from you!"

What we need is a site that can aggregate all these mini-year-in-reviews into one report. A year in year-in-review reviews.
I don't need to freak out because I get a notification saying I have a NEW MESSAGE from my hospital just because they want to say Happy Holidays.
Have a good Christmas and an excellent new year. Really enjoyed the W3IGG coverage and your brief soujourn as a court reporter.
