a new agency made of teenage neonazis and drug dealers is in charge of the entire government. the richest man in the world, who gave a nazi salute at the president's inauguration, says he is in charge. officially, he isn't. the government won't tell the courts who is in charge

From a FOIA perspective, "the entire federal workforce should write down and email what they did last week" is extremely funny

If you think the way the most powerful men treat their partners and families isn’t important, you’ve already fallen for their manipulation. The violence at home is part and parcel of their abuse of power

Three months ago I asked you all for suggestions about a web platform for scrollytelling, and received a host of very good suggestions. We ended up going with Shorthand.com, which we found the fastest and easiest for non-designers to use. I've posted this before, but here's the website we built.

2 fucking headlines right next to each other

This guy's Nazi factor is dialed up to 11

so then it's not a cost-cutting team, is it

Coming around to the view that a certain kind of narcissist simply needs Musk to be a genius rather than a fraud, because they want to believe there’s a hereditary Brahmin class of accomplished, beautiful minds—and that they’re a part of that class.

"The Trump administration has asked Ukraine to withdraw an annual resolution condemning Russia’s war, and wants to replace it with a toned-down U.S. statement that was perceived as being close to pro-Russian in Kyiv..."

Hey @halbfinger.bsky.social, could you or someone else at the Times explain how firing a qualified senior general “root[s] out diversity initiatives?” Which initiative specifically did this “root out?”

What if what the things they got done are classified? What if they work at a remote post with limited access to email? What if they’re stuck on the space station?

There is nothing about the officers being purged that suggests any particular political ideology or partisan affiliation, and that's why they're being purged. It's not about replacing "woke" liberals or Democrats. It's about replacing professional nonpartisan neutrals with MAGA-hatted lickspittles.

We talked to employees across the federal government about how they are resisting Musk and Trump. One of the funnier stories is from USDS, where some workers keep putting up a sign that reads "HATE HAS NO HOME HERE" after it's being taken down over night. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/u...

Seen this happen more than once already

This is horrible for the future of American science and innovation and economic wellbeing and all the things Pitt is not a small institution It has nearly 10K grad students It is where Salk discovered the polio vaccine

Interesting thing for the President to say about a person who, according the government’s lawyers, “has no actual or formal authority to make government decisions himself” and “only has the ability to advise the President, or communicate the President’s directives.”

Food Safety (USA): This is serious! Sysco recalls Frozen Supplemental Shakes after 11 dead from Listeria monocytogenes. As of Feb. 21, 38 cases reported from 21 states, 37 hospitalized & 11 deaths. FDA food recall notice #foodsafety #FoodRecall fda.gov/food/outbrea...

Repealing Section 230 with an autocrat in power will not hold tech accountable, it will suppress speech and force platforms to silence users who say things the regime doesn’t like.

You don’t actually have to be scientist to deduce this, just some reasoning will get you there. Roughly, LLMs work by statistically estimating the likely next word in a sequence of words (that you start with your prompt). Will this statistics exercise suddenly yield a human if done quicker?

if you allow cancel culture to persist if you let it incubate and then you let it cool off you will get cancel yogurt

Uhhhhhh www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

On Wednesday I was the first to report Leland Dudek was on the verge of losing his job at the Social Security Administration when he was suddenly promoted to acting commissioner by Elon Musk. Thursday I published a story with more details. I’ll let you guess if I got any credit in this Post story:

Elon Musk Sparks Communist Revolution Since Nobody Realized the Federal Government is the Only Employer in Rural Communities

Btw this is exactly what Ilya Shapiro’s “lesser black woman” statement re Ketanji Brown Jackson meant

Please please please goad Musk into flying on one of his totally safe rockets.

Imagine the actual services that $200 million could fund.

I say again: Anti-vaxxers are anti-human.

Can someone compare experiences of the #infosec community on #Mastodon and #Bluesky? I am happy here on #infosecexchange , but I am unsure if I am not missing out if I categorically ignore #bsky . Thanks for any comments:) #cybersecurity #askmastodon #socialmedia

This is why JD Vance was in Europe claiming that the US values free speech. It is part of the imperial project to force Europe to allow Nazi incitement like the US allows.

🚨🚨 BIG NEWS today in my #FOIA lawsuit against the FBI revolving around the Trump classified documents case.

yeah (: the US finally gave a conditional approval.... earlier this week (: bsky.app/profile/sara...

kids who are still allowed to read 1984 are going to find Newspeak a lot less confusing

It wasn't "debunked" it was fraudulent from the get go. It wasn't a well meaning person saying, "wear copper for your aching joints", it was a cynical attempt to make money with intentional lies.

It is indefensible for legacy outlets to claim they “first reported” things independent journalists or less traditional outlets had first, which they obviously saw. It’s very common, WP does it but NYT is particularly notorious. And it’s not just tacky, it’s making an objectively false statement.

Egg smuggling definitely goes in the "we didn't start the fire" reboot.
