It's been a while since I forgot to preheat all of my pans first, but I managed to tonight. They were all so lonely watching my pizza pan do it's job alone.🙄
My son's great-grandpa once forgot he had put the leftover pizza in the oven away from the cats and never put it away. They found out when they next used the oven.
All the comments 😳
It never occurred to me that one might store pans in the oven until we helped out my sil when she was hospitalized last spring & tbh, at the time, it never occurred to me that I might be the freak of nature rather than her lol
A 3-pack of frying pans, stacked and plastic shrink wrapped, was a lovely gift until I turned it into a blazing, toxic, melted haz-mat situation. Goodbye security deposit.
I like to occasionally include the step where the fire alarm goes off because I forgot to clean the burnt cheese off the bottom of the oven. It adds a little festivity, with the lights of the fire trucks and everything.
Never any pans in there *unless* it contains the frozen chocolate croissants from Trader Joes that were perfectly proofed overnight, only to be ruined during the preheating by some ding dong who forgot they were there. 🤦🏻♀️
I had stored a couple dozen of intricately decorated Xmas cookies that I had made in the oven to keep them safe. Helpful spouse preheated oven for dinner. Ruined cookies.
It's a good way to season cast iron and carbon steel kitchen items! Next time, put a sheen of oil on them, before storing in the oven! The oils polymerize, making long chain molecules similar to teflon, to make a non-stick surface, and to protect from oxidation, rust.
Oh yes.. Yesterday as I opened door for tenderloin, awaited touchy cast iron skillet.
And decades ago, coworker hid dirty dish upon mother-in law unexpected visit (inspect).
Yet forgot until next preheat flamed plastic. Worse oven cleaning task ever.
Also be sure to not remove the dish rack you hastily threw in there because the realtor was coming to show your house in like 3 minutes and then forgot to remove before starting dinner that night.
And racing to open all the doors and windows even though it's freezing outside so as to not set off the f*king smoke detector that is 13' off the floor.
Since once catching a friend's parents' oven on fire in college by not correctly guessing that they stored plastic cutting boards inside it, I have learned to always check.
Hello I am Mahmoud from Gaza. Our house was destroyed and my father died in the war. Please, donate to me to buy food. We do not have food. We are facing mass starvation. Please🥹🙏 https://gofund.me/ecc3028d
I have been trying to come up with things (besides a gun) to protect myself with (hickory bat?). Just realized that cast iron might be a great solution!
This was my big thing when I moved flat! I set aside part of a cupboard for baking trays. It’s a life changing event. I used to have to carry them all through to the lounge where there was space, as I had a very small kitchen
My grandmother worked for a rich family when she was young. Put the dirty dishes in the oven so she could go out. Next day, the silver platters and such melted. We have one of them by our front door today. Loved my grandmother!

No need to answer; it's easy to check, lol.

We preheated a lot of cat food to 350.
I must admit I store my carbon steel pans there, though. Good for extra seasoning layers.
No doubt you also know not to adjust the shelf racks until this point
I found out the hard way - cuz I have never just *left anything in the oven in my life, I didn't realize that was a thing I had to consider
A perfect example of why I'm on #Bluesky & not that #MuskRatshit
😊

The handles need to be tempered.
You can grip them really hard when they're in that state and you now have individualized ergonomic pan handles.
Just apply ice water to your hands and they'll be usable in a week or so. A small price to pay for kitchen perfection.

It’s the little things 🥰
😂
Step 2. What’s that smell?
Step 3. Remove the now broiled, moldy pan you secured from the dogs last week.
I got that one nailed
Yeah uhhh... thats definitely it.
