Once the Supernatural team learned how to do black CGI eyes, everyone had black CGI eyes. It was like season 3 hit and everybody was possessed all the time

yep! this is what happens when creative writing teams are scared to death to write something original and deep because it might offend someone. so instead they fall back on gimmicks and nonsense like low lighting in every scene, black possessed eyes, and music video montages to move a story along.
I finished my Supernatural binge a few months ago and have just been sitting in silence with it. I have my people. And, anytime God is mentioned around me I picture Chuck now.
I always wondered if the higher level demons got different color eyes at the start or if they grew into them. Like did Crowley have a demon bar mitzvah when he became a big boy demon and got his red eyes?

2 pet peeves about this show: every monster looked like a human for budget reasons, and every death involved the camera panning to a wall and someone throwing a bucket of blood at it.
Season 1: " I dunno, Sam. Demons aren't our thing."
Season 9 or so: "[[Crowley]]. You're the King of Rotten. Act like it.
Also, the boys can casually go to Hell.
I think it’s overdone personally. AI is now doing killer fiery eyes, and very clean super white eyes with red chroma Irises can look far scarier than black eyes.
Whenever someone walks into room: say something slightly ominous. *blink* black eyes just to make sure we know they’re a demon, *blink* back to normal.
I KNEW a thread about Supernatural would pop up soon!! Best season ending ever was Dean waking up with black eyes!! I did not see it in real time, but I know I would have been freaked if I had.
i'm rewatching it with my gf and we're on season 3. i'm rushing her through this season so we can get to castiel. i didn't recall three entire seasons without castiel.
This is like when they decided the only real type of investigation involved torture. I think after season 5 there aren't many episodes without someone tied to a chair and interrogated
When I discovered a friend watched it too I tried to launch into a nerdy religion discussion about it and he just held up a hand and said 'I think we're watching it for different reasons'
I’m in Season 4 of #Supernatural now and it’s wall to wall black eyes. But that’s ok because Castiel is finally coming. I don’t remember it taking this long for him to show up!
going to casually share something that you’re very welcome to ignore :)
just in case you’d be interested after your rewatch (or before lol)… sharing this analysis about SPN’s finale (& why it ended tragically like that), + its overarching storylines & cultural impact
LMAO I can’t believe I’ve been both in the SPN fandom for years and following you for years and this is the first I’m hearing of you knowing/watching the show 😂
V excited for the rest of your posts about your rewatch lol
I decided to try watching it this week-- I thought season 1 was kind of sucking, so I jumped to season 2 which is pretty good. Excited for black eyes season 3.
Season 1 was kind of weak and finding its footing. I think the later seasons got better. It was like Buffy for me in that regard. Some Supernatural episodes are really funny.
So I'm at s2e15. All they should be doing is concentrating on possession-prevention. Carving runes on their bodies. Wearing shirts drenched in holy water. Wearing anti-possession charms (their friend gave them some only just last episode). They should have already figured this out.
I love Supernatural, but I see Season 1 as an endurance test that must be sat through before it gets So. Much. Better. I can watch seasons 3-6 pretty much on loop.
Yeah I really missed the random ghosts and other things like the djinn...it's like they just forgot about everything else and it really takes away from the show (which I loved)
my husband just finished a rewatch, i’d never watched it before at all and was only paying half-attention at absolute best most of the time but i ABSOLUTELY noticed that 🤣
Just once I wanted someone with red eyes. Give me that Red Eyes Black Dragon shit with Crowley looking on like “such a silly pet. I’ve seen mosquitos look more intimidating.”
From what I hear A LOT of actors have used Leaving their series as a lever to keep from having to wear those [damn] things.
Never had to wear any but I can't just discount the reactions of those who have...

Dealing with demons 2-5,000:

I sometimes missed the quaint urban legends stuff when they went all in on demons and religious trauma.
There were later hilarious bits of Crowley kissing other men.
