Important note about this breakthrough:
Literally would not exist without the kind of Federal support the current administration is slashing.
Took 15+ years of research at a federal lab (Lawrence Berkeley) to get this to a point at which private enterprise could take over and make these at scale.

Thanks to Steve Jobs and Gorilla Glass, factories in America are now ramping up to make affordable windows, made from panes thinner than a credit card, that can:
* save Americans $25 billion / year
* withstand a 2x4 shot out of a cannon

Jobs told them that they could.
And to get with it.
They did.
And the rest is history.

That is my initial assumption based on Steve Jobs lore that I embarrassingly know too much about. Lol. Inception attribution.
(I'll bet they give people cancer and that's there're massive bird cemeteries beneath them)
*Okay, the second one is true, but give me some slack, I was kinda on a roll.

Here's NASA's for example: https://technology.nasa.gov/
Labs do R&D and patent the basics, then license and teach companies who then scale it up for mass production
And yes, the federal Govt has been a safe space for R&D since WWII. Can we all stop for a moment and remember WHERE THE INTERNET CAME FROM????
These people are just too stupid.
In the 1960s, IBM developed the Information Management System (IMS) for the Apollo space program. This hierarchical model marked the beginning of structured database management, making IBM a leader in database technology.
this perspective seems like nonsense.
Oh oh. There's the problem...Tramp and his minions wont be going for THAT.
Curious how the money works (w/out sarcastic responses) -
Do the manufacturers selling these windows reimburse the federal research dollars spent?
Also - why wouldn't manufacturers be funding their own research to stay ahead of competition?

Whatever happened to Royalties.
We could eliminate taxes.

They are made essentially the same as double pane, but they just add a third pane of glass (or sometimes sheet of plastic) to reduce convection.
Contact the manufacturer, if they are a quality brand they will fix.
I guess if they went under, you now know why. Bet their CEO made a fortune first though, so capitalism worked!

The window business is one that I would avoid. Most window companies are at the mercy of the IGU manufacturer. The frame is the easy part, and they rarely fail. But bad IGUs make bad windows.

The technocrat oligarchs also hate America and want to burn it so they can regress the modest amount of freedom we had back to feudalist city states
They won't stop
They absolutely must not be allowed to succeed
