Someone should tell them about the massive loopholes created for France and the UK by listing Gibraltar, the Falklands, and French Guiana separately and with lower rates.
They set the rates at different levels for each country but they made sure there won't be any loopholes by including Penguin Rock, can't get anything by these guys
what’s funniest about this to me is how it’s such a classic case of projection. Only a capitalist American dipshit could even imagine a country setting up a shipping warehouse on a protected, uninhabited island just to skirt tariffs
It has no port facility or even natural harbor and is thousands of miles from the nearest inhabited land but sure, I bet dozens of other countries were planning to use it as a waypoint to avoid tariffs.
so my amateur understanding of the tariffs being based on trade imbalances mean that say the UK, who was among the least affected, will see some export demand to the us go up, but no import demand increase, increasing any trade imbalance and subsequently justifying higher tariffs.
I’m not even getting into the meat of why the tariffs are absolutely braindead, I’m just saying Lutnick is so bad at lying he’s pretending there’s a loophole here instead of just saying “yeah we used top level domains to slap tariffs, probably a mistake”

We all know you included Heard Island because it has an internet country code top level domain (dot hm).
the whole thing is so fucking dumb and doesn't even deserve being taken seriously, yet it is very serious.
I don't believe him
