Jeff Bezos, in continuing his trend of turning WaPo into his personal plaything, has announced that its opinion section will now exclusively focus on promoting "personal liberties and free markets." 🙃

Good journalists need to band together, now more than ever, and create their own independent publications -- like @juddlegum.bsky.social and @marisakabas.bsky.social have done, to name two.
“Personal liberties” - to hurt others, to lie about things that cause millions of deaths, to create hate and distrust which could lead to a new Holocaust.
To grab full power in the world by billionaires who plan to leave to secure places when it all breaks down.
The guy who claims presidential endorsements lessen a newspaper’s credibility has now announced the exact genre of propaganda that paper will be pushing.
You can tell that Bezos has evolved into his final Billionaire form, because the gap between how this must have sounded in his head, and how it sounds to everyone else, is peak “until morale improves, the beatings will continue.”
“Personal Liberties and Free Markets”,
Means opinion must fill Bezos pockets.
Free press is gone. It’s totally toast.
Witness the death of The Washington Post.
It's simple, more and more people are realizing the truth that our uncapped, unfettered "free markets" are destroying the country and the billionaires are gonna do everything they can to turn that dial back down.
It is the personal right to legally discriminate against LGBTQ+ (etc) people in any setting. That is what MAGA thinks personal freedom refers to of course.
As a longtime journalist who's dealt with outsized publisher narcissism at multiple outlets, my favorite part of this nonsense is the "If you're answer's not 'hell, yes," then it should be 'no.'"
Not offering a defense of Bezos, but I will note that he and his then-wife were major donors to the referendum campaign that legalized gay marriage in Washington state in 2012. Maybe he'll actually advocate for trans people. Maybe.
also bezos will 100% throw gay marriage under the bus if it gets in the way of increasing his wealth and influe—errr ummm i mean if it clashes with Free Market Ideals
i know that. it's hard to believe one could support gay marriage and not support rights for trans people. i hope Bezos surprises us. he's certainly given us plenty of reasons to doubt his intentions
Oh sure. He pulled the WaPo endorsement of Harris as a favor to Trump, congratulated Trump on his "extraordinary political comeback & decisive victory", donated $1M to his inauguration fund and had dinner at Mar-a-Lago. But maybe he'll advocate for trans people.
Op-eds in favor of ACTUAL "personal liberties and free markets" would get the WaPo thrown out of the White House Press Room even faster than the AP asking about the Secret Doge Administrator.
Well, other than trans people's mere existence and free speech and desegregation and equal opportunity and anti-anti-Semitism and not killing brown people at home and abroad
Someone needs to explain why I shouldn't write off everyone working for the WaPo, NYT, LAT, or WSJ (among others) as active participants in fascist propaganda.
Since Bezos needs to hire a new opinion editor, I nominate none other than Jeff’s favorite president, “TRUMP”!!! now that Elon Musk is taking care of all the presidenting, Donald might be able to squeeze some editing between rounds of golf and Kennedy Center programming.
Jeff Bezos has sold his Soul to the Almighty Dollar💲--Boycott Bezos-- BOYCOTT OLIGARCHY-- FEB 28: NATIONAL DO🚫 NOT SHOP/ DO NOT 🚫BUY/ 👛💵💳Power of the Purse against Control by the Oligarchy‼️🇺🇲
"Free markets" are full of lobbyists, pay to play politicians, and government subsidies (oil, pharma, big tech, big ag) going to already wealthy companies and the already rich people profiting off these companies while Republicans in the House discuss major cuts to Medicaid. Personal freedoms? #WAPO
On second thought, maybe there were problems with allowing people to have so much money that they could buy any thing, idea, or abstract that has ever or ever will exist.
I’m old enough to remember the 60 minutes piece on him starting Amazon in a garage. He still drove a Honda accord. And look at him now. He’s a ghoul. A sick, desperate, power hungry monster.
I can't wait to hear from all the people who endlessly criticized those of us that cancelled our subscriptions after he spiked the endorsement and said we were overreacting and only wanted an anti-MAGA paper. We've been proven right over and over again. The WaPo is basically the NY Post now.

Trump putting huge tariffs on other countries products is not a free market.
It’s not competition among the best.
Rich persons do take many liberties.
I never would have imagined that the world's richest people would be so limited in thought.
Jeff Bezos cares about "personal liberties" in the same way Elon Musk cares about "free speech"

Anyone that uses the term "free market" in a serious manner is a fucking idiot.
There is no such thing.
Shun the Vichy Media.
A personal message from me to Jeff:
These guys are so generic.
