(Have done this many times, especially when I'm in the car with something that needs cut, you just have to get out of the way in case some melted plastic drops on your skin)
Cleaning/sorting/organizing after grandpa passed means I now have a pen bucket with around a dozen pair of scissors.
I could actually put two in each room, just in case! Or maybe like a casual pair, and a formal pair (to cut up magazines when making a BFF collage).

Bonus: outside, big scissors or Fiskars are great for chopping up dog treats like big biscuits as needed
