For the better part of the last decade, a great many people have tried really hard to make Donald Trump make sense in some broader political and historical context. But at the end of the day he's exactly what he appears to be: a rich psycho who's failed at everything in life except self-promotion.

The final endpoint of the path is the crash of the GOP.
I was thinking, "this guy doesn't have a detailed plan,but he's damn good at repeating something until people believe it!"
We already understand them, simple as they may be, b/c our day-to-day lives always have required us to for our very survival.
Not all, blah blah…
But ultimately, it is we who failed. The legal system. The infotainment-ized + deregulated news media. Unregulated religious charlatans. A failed Congress. Widespread coarseness + ignorance.
Turning Trump's bragging on its head: "A lot of failing. Failing like you've never seen before."
It's a thorough and depressing rebuke to any ideas of us living in a meritocracy.
